Re: Comeback
Jerry you are really pretty fast from what I recall. I've never run a sub-4 marathon let alone sub 3 and definitely don't own a Boston jacket.

Jerry, they re-drew the Houston course and it's flatter during the first 6 miles. PR next year?

Yes, oz, Houston 2015 is the plan. I looked back my about 10 years running history, it doesn't look like I can PR anywhere else. Lets see what happens in Boston.

Re: Comeback
This past week reminds me exactly why I started this blog, to put my ugliness and laziness under public eyes, heehee. But I decided to get serious from now on.
Boston Training Week 3
Monday, December 23
6 in the morning under 30 degree.
8 during lunch break on TM.

Isn't the bridge .25-.5 mile from the start the only "hill" of the first half? Anyway, flatter is always better.

That bridge was destroyed. At mile 4 is a rise into the Heights neighborhood and 2 underpasses between 5 and 6. I wouldn't be surprised if they increase the half and full registration from 25,000 to 27,000 or 30,000 for 2015.

It would be cool if Texas has a big marathon. With its size, it should. Thanks for the inside, oz.

Re: Comeback
Wednesday, December 25
Can't run in Christmas morning as our house rule by my DD. We hosted some friends for dinner and spent whole day to prepare, so apparently I didn't have time.
Thursday, December 26
3 plus strength work in the morning.
8 during lunch break at work.

Dear Daughter, a popular term in North Texas Soccer community, at least I learned it from there.
Son is BB, Baby Boy(?), I am not sure.

Re: Comeback
BB is baby, I think, DS is son.
Nice running, I had to wait till we were home from my parents on Christmas day. I can just imagine how mad people would have gotten if I took time to run, plus too many people needing the shower with siblings and bros in law there.

Friday,12/27
Lazy.
Saturday,12/28

Sunday,12/29

Re: Comeback
Surprisingly, I have been training.
Boston Training Week 4
Monday, 12/30
AM: 16 easy, pace 9:11
PM: 5 recovery, plus 3xplank
Plank works wonders for my back.
Tuesday, 12/31
AM: 12 easy, pace 10:05
PM: 4 recovery
Wednesday, 1/1
9 easy, pace 10:12
Worked about 4 hours in the yard cleaning up the leaves, a good strength workout?
Thursday, 1/2
138lbs
6 recovery
Friday, 1/3
139lbs
I can't believe how much I ate/drunk during the holiday.
6xhill
I was still tired, but very glad I was able to keep the hill training going and my legs started getting used to go fast while tired.

How in the heck can it get any flatter in Houston. Does blowing up the bridge really make it that much flatter?

Re: Comeback
Actually, Chicago is a flatter course than either Houston course. Now, except for the 1 overpass around mile 15, any change in elevation is related to being near or over Buffalo Bayou, that parallels the course from mile 20-25.Schuey wrote:ounce wrote:Jerry wrote:Yes, oz, Houston 2015 is the plan. My memory tells me (and please correct me) any noticeable elevation change on the Chicago course is going over the Chicago River and the last 100 yards going into Grant Park.

Re: Comeback
Yes you are correct pretty much all the elevation change at Chicago is going over the river and then just the one hill on Roosevelt going to the finish.ounce wrote:Actually, Chicago is a flatter course than either Houston course.
