29 miles ending with a half marathon, 1:24:46,3:40 off my PR, but 4:22 improvement over same race last year, and good for NYCM guarantee entry. I am good with that.

Congrats Jerry.Jerry wrote:29 miles ending with a half marathon, 1:24:46,3:40 off my PR, but 4:22 improvement over same race last year, and good for NYCM guarantee entry. I am good with that.
Did you read the new rules for the NYCM Guarantee Entry (aka, now a Lottery for Times achieved at Non-NYRR events.)
I'm hoping to get mine in an upcoming Half, I need 1:19:00. The Marathon time is even tougher at 2:45:00.

47 easy miles for the week. 14 mile longest, still recovering some from CHI.
Congrats Jerry. I've been qualified for NY, just haven't the motivation to fight thru 50000 people, getting there, ugh. But I guess it should be a bucket list.

Yes, 2000 bibs are allocated for Guarantee Entry this year. I can't believe there are more than 1000 this fast runners interested in New York in the same year. The standard, I suspect, is like top 1-2%。Those fast runners don't block anyone. They pay the same and leave the course quick. My money is 2000 will be allocated and the lottery is like Houston, everyone gets in.Gobbles wrote:Congrats Jerry.Jerry wrote:29 miles ending with a half marathon, 1:24:46,3:40 off my PR, but 4:22 improvement over same race last year, and good for NYCM guarantee entry. Lottery is a horrible idea. Imagine I qualify by 14 seconds and end up kicking a 2:40 runner out.
I crashed hard today and made a deal myself in the last mile: if I can hold 6:50 last mile and make to New York, I am going.
Go get it.

Lets do it next year. See the standard is really high and we are not getting any younger. As soon as something prevents us from consistent training, we may not get in. You have a way large buffer, but I am not taking any chances.mountandog wrote:47 easy miles for the week. 14 mile longest, still recovering some from CHI.

I ran it for fun 2008. I need to race it once.

Re: Your Week in Training Oct 28 - 27 Nov 3
It's amazingly well organized. My only complaint was the long wait in the morning before the race and the looooooong walk to the family meet up area after. Other than that, a really easy race logistics wise if you do a little pre-planning.mountandog wrote:47 easy miles for the week. 14 mile longest, still recovering some from CHI.
