08.10.14 - Recovery Run
Yesterday, I followed up my decent 20 mile run with a 6 mile recovery run. I was only able to get 6 in, because we went to Milwaukee to celebrate my sister's birthday at Miller Park. My legs felt pretty good following the stress I put them through the day prior. My calves were a little tight, but the hammies and quads were just a little tired. I think that the recovery pace really helped to get the blood flowing and help repair. Finished the 6.23 mile run at an 8:47 pace.

Yeah, Nick, that's a nice 20 performance.
Uh, the Brewers wouldn't happen to be playing in Cincy while you're there, would they?

08.11.14 - Cross Training
Light weight training and core work at the gym...Then it was off to play softball. Finally the regular season is over, with next week being the championship game...In which we are playing in. Here's hoping that it doesn't rain next Monday.

Re: "No Pressure"
The theme of flexibility is still in effect this week. I am swapping out my sorta long mid week run with tonight's run, as I will be in Cincinnati the rest of the week for work. I'll still find time to run while I am there, but having a few less miles will make it easier.

Shame that you're not coming down to the heat in Austin. But, we've had two 'cool' fronts come through in the past 30 days that mostly cut the dewpoint about 8 degrees, which is huge down here in July and August. Houston hasn't even hit 100, yet.
Seriously though, I'd stay away from the Gulf Coast for about 5 weeks, as we are getting into the meat of hurricane season.
Good luck on the run, tonight.

Thanks Doug...
The closest that I actually get to Houston is Austin and I more than likely won't have to go there until mid to late September at the earliest.

08.12.13 - 10 miles
Do to work travel Wednesday thru Friday, I switched my mid-week run to Tuesday not. That means 10 miles on the schedule. A gorgeous evening for a run. It almost feels like September instead of mid August...Thank you El Nino
I ended up running 10.21 miles at a 7:41 pace. I really good run to start out the week. Off to Cincinnati Wednesday morning.

Re: "No Pressure"
08.13.14 - 6 miles
I made it to Cincinnati in good time today (no flight delays...yay!!). I am technically staying in Kentucky (near the airport), so this is my first time running in the state of Kentucky. Once I checked into my hotel, I did a little work and catch up on emails. Then I decided to head out for a 6 mile run. I decided to go with a tempo run tonight, as I have been feeling good and wanted to challenge myself. That is what I did...I started out fairly quickly and peaked at miles 3 and 4 at 7:01 and 6:58 respectively. I finished off the 6.17 miles with an average pace of 7:19. That was my second tempo run of the training cycle and as I had said before, I plan on adding more in as the back half of my training progresses.

Re: "No Pressure"
Check out the new pair of training shoes that I bought tonight. I was looking for other colors of the New Balance 890 v4 and came across these limited editions (Boston Marathon Version). Same shoe as what I am currently training in. The kicker is that I found them on clearance. So I bought 2 pair...I may have a shoe fetish...just sayin...

08.14.14 - Off Day
Visiting my client consumed my entire day today. I am exhausted. Being "on" all of the time takes a lot out of you. That being said, I took today off and swapped tomorrow's off day for today's run. I will get up early tomorrow morning and get my miles in.

Thanks Nancy...yes, I figured I better get them booked before they fill up. The new field size was music to my ears, too. Hoping my time will get me in now.

08.16.14 - 8 miles
An easy 8 miler this morning during my step back weekend. I ran with Jenny this morning, so the pace was very easy. We completed 8.34 miles at an 8:31 pace. Luckily it was overcast and sort of foggy this morning. The sun came out about an hour after we finished and it's supposed to get up into the mid to upper 80s today.

10.2 a few days ago at sub 7:40? Someone is getting in GOOD SHAPE while I've not been paying attention. Good going, man. Do some 800s soon to spark a little turnover in the 6:XXs and make that MP feel even easier.
