6/30 - 50min easy run AM, 1hr recovery bike PM
7/1 - 1hr40min LSD run (not feeling like much of a cutback week, yet...)
7/2 - 45min recovery run
7/3 - 1hr easy bike AM, 1hr easy run PM (ooooooouch), 5hr drive from 10pm to 3am to get home
7/4 - 45min recovery run (felt awful... this week is not going well)
7/5 - 45min fartlek run AM (not bad, but overcooked the first couple intervals a little), 1hr recovery bike PM (tedious)
7/6 - rest

Week - 8hr48min total, 42.67mi run

Finally got some of the rest I needed 7/5-7/6, but man, I kind of blew this as a recovery week.

mon: am easy pm easy

tue: am easy pm Fartlek 15x1min little faster than 5k effort

wed: am easy pm easy

thu: am MLR

fri: pm LR with 50mins @ Steady State pace in the middle of the run.

sat: pm easy

sun: off

For this training cycle and maybe for good I'm no longer evaluating or tracking my training by mileage or pace. The only exception is that when doing Fartlek/tempo/steady state/fcr runs I will have a target pace range I'm shooting for but I don't obsess over it. My only concern is to run for time and at what effort feels good and natural for that day. So my "easy" runs can be misleading do to the fact that pace could be all over the place do to how I'm feeling that day. Back to the fartlek/tempo/steady state/fcr runs the goal is to no that the effort I'm running is matching what the pace should be around.

As you can see I have simplified my training into 3 basic parts:

1. Easy Runs
2. 2 days of faster/uptempo running (Fartlek, Tempo, Steady State and FCR)
3. MLR/LR

This past week my total time running was 13:06:42

I dig what you're doing, Martin. That's the best way to train for ultras, I think, since they're such a feel-based type of race.

Now we have to estimate and get a calculator to see if you're doing those 130 mile weeks, har har.

Mostly easy miles--in the 9:45 to 10:20 range--this week as I work back up to 50 for this next marathon...
Monday: 5
Tuesday: 8
Wednesday: 5
Thursday: 8 at MP (8:58)
Friday: off
Sat:8 with a few miles at tempo
Sunday: 10.5 of a 14 miler. Walked home. Very hot, and my knee was bothering me from either (A) working out with a friend yesterday or (B) napping on the couch with it bent funny...oh well, I just was not feeling the love Smile...tomorrow is an easy 5...we'll see how it goes.

TOTAL: 44.5
