Waiting For The Front
Waiting for the front to arrive around 2 pm. It should be great weather for runners tomorrow. I missed running yesterday. Today was good. This morning, as usual, it is touch and go, for my body is out of favor for morning running. The first mile was at 8:30 and the last four were at 30 minutes. It was ok. The last two miles were at a 7:24 pace. I am pleased. After a one mile warmup, I have 25 miles this week. I am aiming for 7 miles today during the stormy weather.

Re: Clawing My Way Back
So it's cooling down a bit there, as we're getting ready for a warm weekend? Figures.
We may hit 80 on Sunday, though I'm not holding my breath.

Oh My Gosh What A Day
Wow. What a day. The day is gorgeous. First time we have had the A/C off in ages. I ran with the windows open. Amazing. Barely sweating. Wow. Not used to this. 7 miles. 52:30 and had energy to jog a 3 mile cooldown. Wowzers. Now, I ended up with 35 miles in 5 days, but that is still good. Tomorrow will be more of the same. I gotta get a less sweaty 52:30 before onshore begins. Yeah Mark, it is 74 degrees and amazing outside. No humidity at all ( well ok, 34 percent, but hey...).
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Mark he didn't inform you that by Wednesday/Thursday it will be 69 in the morning and high of 86? So don't be jealous of our last couple of days of good weather, you will have plenty more than we will for the next 5-6 months.

Look, I will take this weather as long as Mother Nature provides.
A Less Stressful Outing
Wow, another one. I swear, a fella can get used to this. A backdoor front Sunday night gave us glorious weather. Yeah, I know the heat and humidity are coming back. I know my running shorts will get soaked again and I will have to go through 3 washrags wiping myself off. Yeah, I know. For now, I am loving this. 52:30 for 7 miles at the YMCA. I swear it was great. No stress on my body at all. It was great from start to finish. I have 7 miles this week. Sunday was an off day. Tomorrow will be at 12 noon at the YMCA for I have a meeting at 1:30 pm.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
So crazy. It has to break 80 here for it to be tolerable there?
It's about to get cooler again here, so you'd better hold on to your hat...

Re: Clawing My Way Back
Yeah, the average high at this date is 81. It is 78 now. Barely any humidity out there, with a light wind from the north. Completely comfortable for us.

I hear you Michael - I'm in Albany Georgia and summers are no picnic here either. I am enjoying whatever we have while it lasts!

Agreed! I was in Houston yesterday for a meeting at Exxon, and it was gorgeous outside.

Yes it was. It is ok today, but more humidity. As Joel alluded to, it will be muggier as the week progresses. Tomorrow's run will be back to normal. Sweaty, soaked and just fun.
Semi Good
This run was ok, but I was as weak as a kitten. Not sure why. The earlier start, maybe. I will tell you this, if my body which was weak today, shows up with the same intensity tomorrow, it will be a gut fest. Just gut to gut. I ran a 52:30, but I swear I felt it. Not sweating so much as just tired. I think my run tomorrow will be either at 12 noon or 3 pm at the YMCA. Again, we shall see. I have 14 miles this week.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Gut to gut? What the heck does that mean? I don't want you to lose your gut over running.

Sweaty Minutes Are Here To Stay
Back to sweat and humidity. I can say that the YMCA keeps the temperature around 75-77 degrees. When I got in, it was cold. I mean cold. 52:55 for 7 miles later, I was sweat soaked. The first 4.50 miles were at a 7:35 pace, the last 2.50 miles were at a 7:30 pace. Oh well. If I can keep the base 35 miles at work, I am fine. That gives me a choice of either Saturday or Sunday to run. It was ok for most of it. I mean I know I sweat alot, but other than that, it was ok. My upper calf starting cramping just a bit at the 48 minute mark, but nothing compression socks and fluids will not take care of. I have 21 miles this week.

Sweating To The Humidity
Soaked and loving it. Well, at least I tell myself this. I ran a 53:05 for 7 miles and felt ok. Not great, but ok. I think I am just tired. I know my Friday run will be interesting, but I should be ok. We have a Saturday soccer game for my son. That starts at 11 am. They are 3-1 on the season and with our top scorer in, we are tough to beat. I wish it were my son, but he is just 3 and the youngest on the team by 6 months. We have three kids who are almost 5, so that tips the scales. I think I am running around 3-4 pm, but at least it will get done. Monday will be a doozie. Man oh man. I have interviews from 8-3 with my dean on Monday. Then I leave, go run 7 miles, shower, pick up my child, feed him, bathe him, put him to bed, wait until my mother in law comes over to watch him at 8:30 pm, go back to school for Finals Mania in the library from 9 pm to 12 am. Woweee. I have 28 miles this week.
Woo Hoo?

Yeah, 5'8" and a looker. I had been standing behind her, not knowing who she was, until I caught half of a smile at a friend she was talking to. Where have I seen that smile? BINGO! Shame that next week is the final week.

High School Track and Field
Well shucks almighty. Oh well, for a brief instant, you were in heaven. We may go to the UIL High School Region III Track And Field Championships tonight in Humble, Texas. It is 3 miles from my house and I have been promising my nephews for years to go. Who knows? I know my run will be done by the time it starts.
Funked Out Friday
It was. I was tired. Pooped. Everything. I just said the heck with running. Today, good run. Not great, but good. The first 4 miles at 30:24 and the last 3 miles at 22:15 for a 52:39 for 7 miles. Not too bad. I ended with 35 miles this week. At least I know how to get to 42 miles a week now.
