Re: Clawing My Way Back
Groin yes, but otherwise no. Just the "my body does not want to run a 7:30 pace" the first ten minutes of the run. After around the 35 minute mark, I am loose and ready. Nature of the beast.
Runner Hater
I hate running. I do, but I love what it does for me. I hate the fact it takes 35-40 minutes to get into a good place while running, but I love the last 15 minutes when I am on air. The tortured part of living. Well, it looks like today might be a YMCA run, but not sure. If it is, 2 pm is the start time. If not, then I run 7 miles at home. Yesterday. It was humid, but not too hot. We are supposed to have a deluge iof rain coming, so it will be humid runs from now until Sunday. Woo Hoo. 52:30 for 7 miles and it was ok. Not great, but again, took forever to get comfortable. At least I am running, right? Spring Break is next week, so I will be grading items, working on my dissertation and running. I might go check out our YMCA near me. I have 19 miles this week.

Seems that sometimes the hardest part of running is committing to put on my running shoes.

Agreed. Totally. After 31 years of running, I agree.

Yep.
Missin In Action
Today is cold. Woo Hoo. I will take rainy and cold over warm and humid anyday. I missed yesterday. I swear it is looking like 5 days a week seems to be the max on some days. Maybe not. I ran this morning with an afternoon session coming up. First two miles, 15:57 and the last three at 22:16 for a 38:19. Not too bad. Very hot upstairs, ( I was going to open the window, but it was raining). I have a 7 miler this afternoon. Not sure whether it is the YMCA or home. I have 24 miles this week.
Hold Your Head Up
Tired, but ok. Spring Break this week. LOL 52:30 for 7 miles on Saturday to give me 31 for the week. Terrible, but dang for 5 days...LOL. Today, first two miles 15:20 and last five at 37:30 for a 52:50 for 7 miles. I am tired. See ya.
Gosh Darn Hot Heck Fire
Yep. Hot. Humid. I hate March already. LOL. I ran a 52:30 for 7 miles, but it was a survival run. Tomorrow, I think I will add GU to the equation. This will be the first time since October. Lovely. 14 miles this week.
Fudge This
This is the second day in a row I have had to struggle to run. I know I must get acclimated to this, but MARCH. FRIGGIN MARCH? Come on. I am already tired of this. I had to GU it to get through this. I am soaked, I am tired and I hate running. I loathe it now. Oh yeah, I am finished. I ran a 52:30 hot, sweaty, disgusting 7 miler. Sigh. I will saddle up tomorrow to run. Lovely. I have 21 miles this week.
Dead Tired
I am tired. I really am. This one was worse than yesterday's. I am struggling to keep my head up. I swear for goodness. It was 80 upstairs. Now, it could have been that my wife is cooking. Also that the humidity is so tropical right now. Not sure. There maybe some relief coming next week. Some models (GFS and EMCW) are showing highs in the mid 60's. I could live with that. Oh the run. Oh yeah. First mile was in 7:42 and the last 6 at 45:00. It was so hard this time. Give me strength to finish the week out. Oh, my wife and son are going to a kid place tomorrow morning. I will run in the morning. Maybe that will give me better results. I have 28 miles this week.
Am I Finally Adapting?
OMG. OMG. I think that I am. Now, after 1 GU and 20 oz of fluid, this run was not so bad. Now, it was in the morning, but again, not as bad. I am still soaked. I am still tired, but not as bad. 52:30 for 7 miles came out of this journey. That gives me 35 miles for the week. This has been the most successful week I have had ( consistency wise) in at least 6-7 months. I am going to sherpa a friend later this year in a 10K and I might do a Sprint Triathlon with my brother in law. Otherwise, a 7 miler in the morning to finish the week. If I can do that, that would give me the best week in 6-7 months.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
You need a GU for 7 miles?

Yes, Yes I Do
In the heat, yes. In the humidity, yes. So, yes I do. I normally do not ( have not since October), but these conditions have forced me to.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
I think you're about finished with your acclimatization. GFS seems to be the funkiest on precip predictions, but the temps seem to not fluctuate much.

Never Again Folks
For those of you who think I am a paper tiger. Who think, "Well, he runs inside, so he is not a real runner". Or "Well, get him in conditions not favorable, he will wilt like a flower". No No No No No. Why? I swear for goodness today was the absolute worst. The A/C is on 78. Now downstairs, no biggie. Upstairs ( and we have no roof ventilators..I will soon fix that) the temperature is a toasty 83. Yeah, that is right. 83 degrees. The first two miles were at 16 minutes. The last five were at a 37:30 for a 53:30. I am not so tired as just worn out. I will tell you that tomorrow is a morning run. This is for the birds. Also, YMCA; Monday through Friday from now on. I have 42 miles this week.
Ok, I Lied...LOL
I had to mow this morning. I did want to run, but no beans. I ran 6 miles in the afternoon. Oh boy, I paid again. Goodness gracious. The first two miles were at 16 minutes and the last four at 29:59 on the dot to give me a 45:59 for 6 miles. I am tired. There are two positives coming. First, tomorrow, the YMCA. It is usually freaking cold in there now. LOL. The humidity is a killer, but after these heat runs, goodness. Second a front is coming. Yes it is. Pacific in nature, it will dry us out and make our lows in the 50's, thank God. We have had the A/C running for so long. I have 6 miles this week.

If only the 50's would stick around longer.

Missing For Dos
Yep, I missed two days of running. Monday, it was SOO hot, I just said forget it. I am too young to die. Really, too young. It was 83 and I was like, nope. Yesterday, the wife wanted me to go with she and my son to swimming practice. I said..oh ok. What a week. Well, this morning, 5 miles. I started at an 8 minute pace and slowly worked down to a 7:19 pace at the end. Went from an 8 minute first mile to a 37:45 for 5 miles. Not too shabby. See what a little cooler weather can do. Sheesh. 7 miler today. I think it is at home or it could be the YMCA. I have 11 miles this week.

Well, I am trying ya know.
Update on Me
Ok, I have been bad. I have not been updating the folks. Ooops. Last week, 33 miles. I tried to get in 42, but I only ran 5 days last week. Let me see. Sunday, 53:30 for 7 miles and I was tired, but I got it in. It was hot, but that is now normal. LOL. Monday, 53:15 for 7 miles and another tired run. Tuesday, off day. I just said the heck with it. I did not care. Today, it was ok. I have a head cold, mucus disgusting crap. 52:30 for 7 miles and I was done. I felt a little better. Tomorrow, I am debating. It could be a YMCA run at 12 noon or a 5 pm run. I am leaning toward the YMCA to get it out of the way. I have 21 miles this week.
