Re: Laugh at the Rules
Definitely the weather was easier yesterday. It would be nice if the drier air stayed put but we'll see how things unfold. Glad that you had such a good run following Tuesdays steambath.

Great run! The humidity is still really high in the mornings then clears off. Probably a good time for me to consider late afternoon running or something but I lack motivation (and speed work + jogging stroller does not seem practical).

Thanks K!
About 3/4 cup sour cream, 1/4 or less vinegar, a couple T of sugar, salt and pepper, 2-3 cucumbers depending on size, slice up,and some onion sliced up. Mix it all up! It is yummy and easy to make with the ingredient easy to keep on hand. I usually taste it and add more sugar or if it's too tart.
Another one I make uses red wine vinegar, oil, sugar and salt and pepper, with some fresh dill weed on top. Again, taste it and see how you like it. With that one I use red onion, with the other I use yellow.
They both sound delicious. I should copy these down. I love cucumbers and it seems like a good summer-y dish to make.
Great running, Peg! I love that you had to hold it back on the 10 miler. It seems things are really coming along well for you. Keep up the great work!

Re: Laugh at the Rules
Five mile on the hilly route. Very dusty and windy tonight! Still, a decent pace and felt pretty good, considering 3 in a row after work days, and 20 miles in 3 days. Rest tomorrow! Plus, it's F-R-I-D-A-Y!!!

Re: Laugh at the Rules
Saturday: Did a 5 mile race, with a 3 mile warm up and a 2 mile cool down to get my 10. Ran it in 43:44, just 23 secs slower than last year.
It was supposed to be a 10 mile MP run.
Today was 20. It went fantastic and I felt great when done. 3:46, 11:15 ave pace.

Great job on the 10 miler and so happy to hear your 20 went great!
I hope school is settling into a routine and all is going well there, too.

Re: Laugh at the Rules
Thanks for stopping in Julie.
The ten and 20 went well, as well as the five mile race. ANOTHER 50 MILE WEEK!!!
Today was just a 5 mile run--no watch. Took the dog and we had a lot of traffic today, so we got interrupted a lot. Oh well. It kept me slow.
6 tomorrow, then I am either running 3 on Thurs or just resting, as well as rest day FRiday: Half Marathon on Saturday. Trying to decide on my pace.
Do I go for a PR? 1:58:10 is my PR and I did that last year, but I was specifically training for a half at that time (same race too!) with speed work once a week. I have to do 20 the following weekend....then it's taper time for the marathon. Decisions decisions!

Re: Laugh at the Rules
Wow, Peg, you are really getting it done. Nice work. I vote that you go out at PR pace and just see how long it feels doable. Hard to believe its almost taper time for you!

Go for a PR. You are doing such good training and still have time till your marathon to recover from it.

Peg just catching up and I see some great running from you. Nice 20 mile and good job on the race.
Re: Laugh at the Rules
Peg great job with the race and 20. Nice to see the 20 feeling good the day after a race. As for the Half go for it. If you're not feeling it then you can just shut it down and bring it in at whatever pace feels good.

Yes! 7:00 am start for the half at Bill Seymour. Are you running?

I think I will!

Ok, it seems to be a consensus!
5 miles tonight-- plan called for 6 but 1) I'm thinking about racing the half, 2) I wore my new shoes again and while they felt better, they still need a few more runs to break in, and 3) it was hot!
Still considering an extra rest day tomorrow.
184 for the month--new monthly high!!!
Re: Laugh at the Rules
Nice job on another 50 mile week! I say you take the day off Thursday and do an easy run on Friday to stay loose for Saturday. Just my 2 cents!
Good luck and go get that PR!

Ran it about three years ago. That is one flat course. I had thought about it earlier, but figured I would probably try to race it which could be detrimental to my training right now. If I knew I could run it as a training race, I might. We need to be in Lincoln by 2 or so for the game. Full of excuses I am. haha Weather should be decent anyway.

Re: Laugh at the Rules
Have a great race! You have more running experience than me and surely
know your body much better than I knew mine, but I ran a "test" half
marathon last year prior to my marathon and dinged up my hamstring
pretty well. Go and kick butt for a PR, but I just wanted to tell you
to pull in the reigns a little if you feel like you are really pushing
your body and risking injury - wouldn't want to sacrifice your big
race.
Good luck and let er rip.... Just not too much....
You are getting close - 5 more Sundays I think it is till the big dance?

Thanks Jon! I'm going to wear my Husker shorts and I used fabric Sharpies to put a Red N and "Go Big Red" on a white tank for tomorrow!

Yes, I will pay close attention to myself! 4 more weeks! One more big Sunday next weekend and then taper!

So--light wind, but very very humid! I may just need to go for a good time, not a PR! Dang!
Re: Laugh at the Rules
Yeah it's humid out there. Too bad because Monday should be downright beautiful. Have a good race either way!

Re: Laugh at the Rules
It looked like toward the end of your race, you might have gotten a little wet. I waited here until after 10:30 to get my morning run in until the rain passed through.
