Re: 10 weeks to Back Bay
This has been a challenging week as I'm getting more appointments and hence more sales. So along with my daughter's indoor track meets that last 'til midnight, I'm barely getting the time to fit in the runs I need to get to the start fit and strong to handle the Boston course. Here's the week:
M-off
Tu-6x(.50mi)TM hills 4up 2down [7mi]
W-5mi TM w/ strength wo
Th-5mi TM pyramid tempo
Fr-5mi easy outside finally
Sa-6mi outside progression 7:41-6:34 pace
Su-1:50 min easy TM(13mi) too bitter COLD again for outside, ugh!
41mi wk 373 YTD -slight stepback b/f another step up wk

The cold just doesn't seem to want to end. Great job getting the workouts done.

Re: 10 weeks to Back Bay
It's been a while so I won't bore with the details, but the week before last I finally broke the 50mi mark with a 20 miler on Saturday with a buddy from my summer training group. The last few miles were tough and I felt like crap. I did an 8mi progression run on the Friday before so I guess that contributed to the agony.
This week was a bit better. Key workouts were 7 half mi hills(5%) on the treadmill at MP with 3 of them downhill 3% at 1K pace. Did a 6mi tempo Thursday. Saturday got together again with Javier and we did 15mi in the Forest preserve with a strong finish and then 10 today on the lakefront with a few at marathon pace with a bike commute to and from. Felt really good today and probably could have gone farther but in 2 days I'll be hitting 8 Yasso 800's so leg preservation is key!
Toni had her surgery last Friday and it went well, now the radiation treatments in the near future. We are so glad they caught it early and thank God for that!

Glad to hear that the surgery went well. Nice job on the training especially that hill workout. If you did the 8M progressive the day prior to your 20 it's probably not surprising you were feeling it. Great job getting everything done.

Re: 10 weeks to Back Bay
Took Monday off due to soreness and tax preparation.
Tuesday was 8 yasso 800's @3:00-3:10 on a half mile loop path near my neighborhood. The wind was at 15-20 mph gusts so it was rough on the first half and aided on the 2nd half. 9mi total. Felt strong and controlled after not wanting to get out of bed, glad I got it out of the way early since I had a late shift at the call center.

M-off
Tu-8X(4-6%)800's TM hills (7mi)
W-5 easy w/dog
Th-8mi 8min pace
Fr-off
Sa-12mi
Su-off ouch slightly touchy left Achilles
32mi week 551YTD
So I ran with Mr. Schumaker Saturday and after noticed a slight swelling in my left Achilles and it's been touch and go all week. Got 4x400's in @10K pace on an indoor track Tuesday and jogged 4 miles today with the doggy. It's a bit funky as well as the whole ankle area, this is my weak area since I had a massive sprain in 2007. I always get these pains in the taper, guess the body is healing itself! Well, pains or no pains I'll be toeing the line in Boston on the 21st.

Just wanted to check in and see how you and your wife were doing. I prayed for her during my run yesterday morning. Hope your summer is going well.
