Re: Time to Pace Others
Glad she's feeling better. From my experience just 12-24 hrs of that junk can keep energy pretty low for a week.
Good running! Do you feel like you are meeting all of your training goals so far this cycle?

Thanks, it was a good effort for Peggy and a good finishing time.

We just got back from a short walk as she hasn't exercised in a few days and wanted to do something light.
Thanks Julie, I missed so much of this training cycle that I haven't met all of the training goals/runs because I had to stop all uptempo running and drop from 6 days running down to 4 to recover for a few weeks. My workouts have been going well since then, but I am playing the runs by ear now. I plan to add 5 minutes to my original marathon goal, which is still a decent goal.

Re: Time to Pace Others
Today was an easy 10 and with the temps and humidity coming back up I decided I would be happy with averaging 9:00/mile. I ended up averaging 8:18 and my HR averaged 140, all better than I expected. I did sweat a lot, but I can live with that.

Is there such thing as an "easy 10", especially with a little heat and humidity thrown in? Good job and that is a low HR for that pace and conditions!

It felt relatively easy to me. I expected my pace to be slower and to feel more drained afterwards, so those are good signs. Thanks, it is around 78% of my max HR.

Well, I hope you get a nice cool race day and you may just surprise yourself and meet your original goal if everything is just going great.

The cool race day would be nice and I would love to surprise myself. Today was another nice run.
It was 80 when we started at 6:30 AM and already too humid. I paced the group intentionally a little slow for the majority of the run. With a little over a mile left to go I asked if anyone wanted to pick up the pace for the next mile. One guy, Robert said he woud give it a try. We slowly started accelerating the next mile. At first our average pace was 8:30, then 8:15, 8:00, 7:30 and finally 7:13 (HMP). I can't remember feeling that strong before at the end of a 20 miler. The funny thing is that even though the sun came out the temps were a little cooler when we finished than when we started. I don't know at what time the temps started coming down.

Really nice long progression run! Sometimes I find on a 20 not so much temps going down but humidity dropping making it a bit easier!

Thanks Kenny! I don't know what got into me, but finishing the lzst mile of a 20 mile run at HMP felt good.

Re: Time to Pace Others
Today I did 6X800 at 3K pace. The first 2 were the hardest as my legs had to get used to working that hard. By the 4th repeat I knew I had it in the bag. The funny part is that while pushing the 800s my legs didn't seem tired, but between the 800s while recovering the legs felt tired.

It's funny the things that go through your mind and how your body reacts to speedwork. Thanks, Michele.

Great way to finish the 20 Jim and nice set of intervals. Looks like the training is coming strong.

Thanks Alex, the last couple of workouts have been good.

Thanks Julie.
Today I ran 8 miles at what I intended to be an easy pace, but the cooler weather made my legs energetic. I ran 8 miles at an average pace of 8:05 with an average HR of 135 (75% of max).

Re: Time to Pace Others
Today was an easy 10 miles. I ran 4.5 miles and then a mile with the Back on My Feet group and then another 4.5 miles. I ran the 4.5 home faster because I hoped to get home before Peggy left for work. I got home a few minutes before she left and was able to walk her to the train. It will be nice when I am working FT again.

Nice 800's for sure and things are looking good for you in the past runs. Good job!
Re: Time to Pace Others
Looks like things continue to head in the right direction! Just don't use it all up in training these last few weeks!

I am trying to get all caught up on your running and it looks like things are going great. I think that we are all happy about the cooler temperatures. It was definitely a wicked summer.

Thanks Kenny, unfortunately I have a cold and missed a day. Better to get one now than marathon weekend.

Thanks Jim, things have been going much better training wise.

Yes, I will be glad when it is gone enough that I can run again.

Alex, I think you are right that my body is telling me that I need more rest. I was supposed to do my long run today because I can't do it tomorrow.
