Re: Time to Pace Others
I went out for an easy 8 this morning. I was expecting an 8:30 average pace at best as I was just feeling mentally fatigued. As I continued running my legs felt good and it was cool. I ran the 8 miles at an average pace of 7:50 and an average HR of 143 (GA range). That felt good!

It seems like sometimes it takes awhile to get into a run, but when you finally do, they're worth it.
Too funny about the shorts! Good thing you weren't running with a group of the Hasher Harriors or whatever they're called where everyone gets a vulgar nickname. I can only imagine....

Kathy, you are right about that happening in a run and it is great.
I can only imagine

Re: Time to Pace Others
After having a really nice run yesterday I planned to slow this one down and make it an easy 10 mile run. The cooler weather got the best of me and I averaged under 8:15 for the 10 and was planning closer to a 9:00 pace.My average HR was pretty good at 136. I have tomorrow off from running and then Peggy and I run a half on Sunday in Batavia. It will be a relatively easy pace for me and make the weekly total 50.1 miles, which is nice for a cut back week.

nice run today. I hope this weekend goes well, 50 miles for a step back week is still quite a few miles!

Thanks Julie, Peggy did well in the half marathon. She finished in 2:03:36 and beat me by 1/2 a second.

I am loving this cooler weather for running! I wasn't with the group Saturday because I ran the Half Madness in Batavia with Peggy yesterday.
Kenny B. wrote:Solid running and good cut back. Enjoy the weekend run!
Thanks Kenny, I enjoyed running the race with Peggy.

Re: Time to Pace Others
Yesterday I ran the half with Peggy, which for me was an easy 13.1 miles. I think the competitive nature of the race got to me this morning. I planned to run 10 miles with miles 3 and 4 at T pace and the rest easy. I did the first 2 miles easy, the next 2 at T as planned, 2 more easy and then the last 4 at MP or better. It was nice to have the 2 done at T pace and still have energy to later do 4 at MP. I am loving this cooler weather!

50 is a great number to put down in the books on a step back week. Sounds like you had fun with Peg at the race too.

Jim, it seems not too long ago a 50 mile week qualified as a peak week. My longest week to date has been 70 and that was training for Boston this year. We had a lot of fun and I just posted a picture to the race report.

Thanks Alex, my average HR was 123, easily a recovery pace for me. During the race I occasionaly forgot how hard Peggy was working it.

Peggy woke up early this morning with a stomach flu and is resting in bed. I got out for an easy 8 mile run this morning and I am loving this cooler running weather.

Oh I hope Peggy feels better soon! Stomach flu is the worst!! Be a good nurse to her without also catching it, if possible.

She's feeling better, but still a little leary of solid food.

She is feeling much better and starting to get her energy back. So far I feel good.
