Two years ago, I ran Dallas in cold rain. Shower cap was the only thing I did right. 3:00:09.
I regret very much not wearing my running rain jacket, but you are a northerner and may have better cold tolerance.

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
My extended weather report for Naperville Illinois Nov. 10
On Sunday: Breaking record high of 68 and sunny
On Monday: Cold start with rain, high of 40
On Tuesday: Partly cloudy and high of 50
Today: Cloudy and high of 59
Gotta love how the computer models can't decide anything that far out! But of course I will check it 5 times/day everyday.....

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Thanks for the update Nick...I just hope the forecast holds or continues to improve. I also prefer cold weather. My previous 2 marathon starts were right around 32 at the start. But I don't often run in rain/snow and I don't like the wind much. Here's hoping for cold but nice conditions.Nick Morris wrote:I remember the rain cap story Actually, I tend to run my best races in cold temps. Does duct tape on shoes keep the feet dry, when it rains during a run? Let's discuss, because I'm curious and it's a TAPER MADNESSSSS thread.

Alright, good luck on Sunday. When things get tough, think what Jerry is doing, probably drinking beer cause it is a half.

Best weather forecast so far!!! Hi is now 39 with only a 10% chance of precipitation...so none...and winds are down to 8 mph!!!
This is definitely a recipe for a PR.

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Hmm, the Indianapolis forecast is not quite as good. Rain is supposedly to hold off until after 2pm, with a low of 40F and a high of 50F but a west/northwest wind and gusts up to 21 mph. Not really sure what the wind means, but if it means it comes from the west that is good as it will be behind us in the latter miles, but if it goes to the west, then it will be in our faces. Hopefully, the humidity will be down. This morning it is weirdly 61F here in Cleveland with 85% humidity. Very miserable!

Looking at the Forecast Discussion, I gleaned the following:Michele \"1L" Keane wrote:Hmm, the Indianapolis forecast is not quite as good. SOME LIGHT SHOWERS AND EVEN COLDER AIR ALOFT ON
SATURDAY...THINK HIGHS WILL STRUGGLE INTO THE LOWER 50S AT BEST.
and regarding location of the light showers:
A FEW LIGHT SHOWERS IMPACTING MAINLY THE NORTHERN AND EASTERN PORTIONS OF
THE FORECAST AREA ON SATURDAY.
High pressure builds in on Saturday night, clearing out the clouds.
Today, they're getting hammered by the same system that we are getting, that's tied to a low pressure system in the Great Lakes.
