I don't think my husband would fall for that. Me: "Honey I need a new GPS watch." Husband: "Why." Me: "My old one got lost in the mail."Jerry wrote:Mail it to me then:lol!:carleenp wrote:Kinda hoping my 610 will die now, so I can justify a new one!

What's the expected battery life? It'll probably be a race to see if it'll last for JFK.mountandog wrote:just rec'd a shipping notice that my 620 has shipped. Bought it thru REI.

My replacement 305 is currently on its way to me via the postal service. So, I will at least be able to temper my thoughts on getting the 620 for a little bit longer.

supposed to be 10 hours. We'll see. I might carry both watches and switch mid-stream if necessary.T Miller wrote:What's the expected battery life? It'll probably be a race to see if it'll last for JFK.mountandog wrote:just rec'd a shipping notice that my 620 has shipped. Bought it thru REI.

That's my plan, to wear 2 610's and switch at some point. Wendy will be wearing our 910.mountandog wrote:supposed to be 10 hours. We'll see. Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
Well real quick all I can see is the watch is awesome. Went out for a 10.30 mile run with it and love it! The watch is very light, the band is much better, the charger is better, it's cool how you can view runs now on phone, I like the new charger, the Wifi is great ( no need for ANT stick I hated that thing), I like now how you can scroll through setup pages much easier then the 610. Umm let's see there is so much more and I'm still playing around with the darn thing. By far the best Forerunner they have come out with. I'm also glad that I returned my Sunnto(spelling) Ambit back to REI after using it all summer for a 100% return since we are members. The 620 was 150 dollars less and I think is a much better watch!
Well worth the money spent on them!

Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
I finally got mine after it was lost by the USPS.
Kinda a mixed bag...
Good:
Bluetooth up load via cell phone is cool. Although it takes a few minutes for the elevation correction.
WiFi seems to work pretty cool
Running dynamics seems to work as advertised.
Light, very light!
Setup is slightly easier, but web based setup has some limitations. (Correctable on the watch)
Ready to run quickly
Neutral:
GPS accuracy is still OK, the dead reckoning still needs work. The course I run has some major tree cover and multiple tunnels 5~15 seconds, the satellites drop, and those miles measure long (I'm running on a wheeled (to the certification standard) and permently marked course). 3/6 were long, 2/6 were within a step, and 1/6 was short. Within 1%, pretty close to 0.5%.
Bad:
Readability is equal or worse than the 610; I really wanted to use 4 measures/data per screen. I can, but as with the 610, you have to take some care in reading it.
I have change the color theme to see if this happens.
Tbd:
Some features I'm not yet convinced are improved: for example, the save function when stopping.

Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
Well, I've had some lock-ups, one of which required a call to Garmin.
After a forced shut down, a factory reset, and a software update, it now seems to work... Except Bluetooth uploads, I think this is an app issue (based on reading the app feedback).

No issues with mine or Lisa's. no shut downs, downloads via WiFi very fast uploads to the phone without any issues. All good on this end.Nick Morris wrote:Wow...I wonder if anyone else is having issues. Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
what about your battery issues at JFK? Also, mine lost GPS for 7 miles in JFK - apparently I ran 7 straight miles along the tow path. Went across the river a couple of times too, hmmm don't remember that. Must have been the accelerometer taking over when it lost the GPS. Oh well, we'll try it for a few more weeks before I complain too much.Schuey wrote:No issues with mine or Lisa's. no shut downs, downloads via WiFi very fast uploads to the phone without any issues. Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
I'm thinking the battery issue was my mistake. I don't think I had the watch fully charged. I started the watch again after a full charge and it ran for the 10 hours.mountandog wrote:what about your battery issues at JFK? Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
Too many issues, almost unusable at times.
Filled a return claim, and sending it back.
GPS Accuracy is all over the place after the S/W update; wasn't great, but now NG.
Some miles are 0.99~1.01 (Good); some are 0.92 or 1.08 (Bad). The miles are not repeatable.
BT doesn't work consistently.
WiFi works 1 out of 10 tries.
Run dynamics work well
HR monitor works well, but hard to keep wet during this time of year.
Really hoped for a 610 with added features, alas...
This may be a freak unit, I work in the field (GPS/Electronics) and it happens. So while I'm dissatisfied with the 620 I received , I will likely buy a future 620 or 920 (if/when it is released) as I feel the Garmin products are the class of this segment.

SO you are just returning and not exchanging? I am just wondering if it is a freak thing or if it's an actual issue with the watch.Gobbles wrote:Too many issues, almost unusable at times.

Re: Garmin 620! - Who Wants to Buy my 610??
Nick:
I believe that my watch likely has some marginal H/W (Likely lower on the sensitivity side), that is why I elected to return this watch.
I elected not to exchange, as I believe the S/W issues will likely take some time to resolve. They need to fix the APP and the watch.
So, wait 3-5 Months, somewhat dissatisfied, with a 450$ watch, or send it back. I chose to send it back.
I will miss the quick satellite lock.
