Chicago wave start Empty Chicago wave start

Looks like Chicago is moving to a much more discrete starting system with many corrals and two waves. This might help relieve some congestion in the morning if many people will start the race a half hour later. First year in corral B for me!

We are excited to inform you that the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will feature a new Wave Start and Start Corral process to facilitate a more efficient and convenient race day experience for all participants. This includes three significant updates that you should be aware of:

  • There will be two separate Start Waves (Wave 1 and Wave 2); Wave 1 will start at 7:30 a.m., followed by Wave 2 at 8:00 a.m.
  • All participants have been assigned to a specific Start Corral (Elite Development, Corral A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L or M)
  • Participants assigned to Start Corrals A, B, C, D, E and Elite Development will start in Wave 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m.; Participants assigned to Start Corrals F, G, H, J, K, L and M will start in Wave 2 beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Is that 7:30 start earlier, later or the same?

I think this is a good idea...especially since there is a lot of congestion at the start.
