Re: 2012 Goals
I have fallen so very far! My goal is to figure what's wrong with my knee, get it fixed, and then hopefully run again on a regular basis.

sub 17 5k
sub 1:20 half
2:45 full
Well, didn't make it.
#1 I was able to run a 17:41 PR without 5k specific training.
#2 My fastest half of the year was part of a 14 mile MP run. I wasn't able to find a half that fit into my schedule at the appropriate time.
#3 I'm stupid. I went out too fast and ended up slowing down as the race progressed instead of going out slow and speeding up.

I really should read more carefully. I thought this was a "2013 Goals" thread. Sub-3 is my only goal this year. Oh well. Carry on.

Tim is responsible for not motivating Jerry to achieve his goal too.

Re: 2012 Goals
My 2012 goals were:
I was indeed injury free other than just a few tiny things that had little overall effect. I also got a 4:28:48 PR in the spring. Woot! I didn't truly race a half in the fall, but unintentionally got 2:07 something (I think it was 2:07:04) and could have been faster if I had set out to race it.
So it was a good year!
I want an injury free year and a 4:35 marathon in the spring. If I race a half in the fall, I want a 2:05 half. Not sure what my fall plans will be yet though.

To have all new PRs by the end of 2012, I need to beat my times at 5K (18:26), 10K (38:40), 10M (1:04:10), 1/2 (1:24:32), full (3:09:43). Some of those should be pretty easy and others pretty tough. I don't race other distances like 1 mile, 8K and 15k too often but if I do, I want PRs there as well.
I did OK but not great with my goals. I did a minor few seconds PR at the full, a big almost 2 minute PR at the half and a few seconds off the 5k. I didn't race a 10K or 10M race and need to do that this year. I think technically I set a 10M PR during my half but that doesn't really count.
The big one I missed badly on was finally getting sub3. I went for it once at the end of the year and dropped out with an injury so I also failed to reach my 2012 goal of staying fully heathly.

And to take at least two consecutive weeks off with 0 miles. I seriously need it I have realized as I am burning out and loosing the motivation for workouts.
I think I did 'OK' at goal #1. I managed some tougher tempo runs by this October / November pretty well.
I failed at the second goal. I lasted a week after my marathon in the spring and two days this December.

Sheesh,
#4 I failed to properly motivate Jerry. Anyone have any ideas?

Chris, you allowed Jerry's lame times gain a permanent standing on the 2012 record holder's list. I expect more from you this year.

That was what was most unacceptable about 2012! He's going to go first in 2013 with a bunch of races and then we'll see what I can do again once heathly.

Re: 2012 Goals
My goals for 2012 were to get healthy, get back to consistent running (which I wasn't doing at the end of 2011), and finish a marathon in a decent time.
I got healthy (for a while) and logged some pretty consistent mileage through the summer and fall and finished Philly in 3:25. Unfortunately, the issue that shut me down at the end of last year, my left iliopsoas, flared up on the other side and I'm now deraling with that. Oh well, I'm probably in better shape right now than I was at the start of 2012, so it's not all bad.

Re: 2012 Goals
My 2012 goals were to PR in the HM and BQ in the Full. I PR'd in the HM at 1:24:XX, which means that 2013 is gonna be tough The marathon did not work out as well. I got an 8 minute PR, but missed a BQ by 29 seconds

Re: 2012 Goals
Dang, I must have missed something or forgot, you ran a 1:24:xx? Was that downhill? Dude, that predicts a pretty darn good chance to go sub 3:00, let alone a BQ. You'll get it, be patient! Good year for ya despite the near miss!~Nick Morris wrote:My 2012 goals were to PR in the HM and BQ in the Full. Yes, I did...the course is realtively flat with a couple of gradual uphills. It will come. I just need to be patient.

Re: 2012 Goals
I just compiled my miles for 2012 and found that I ran about 150 more miles than 2011. 1,350 in 2012 vs. 1,200 in 2011. I can only think that 2013 will be even greater with two training cycles in the same year...
