Garmin HR monitor
Can you use the Garmin 305 HR monitor with the Garmin 405. I have the 405 w/o the HR monitor, but it has a setting for heart rate. Is there something I need to do to pair it with the monitor, or maybe I just need a new battery in the HR monitor strap.

I am almost certain you cannot use the HRM from the 305 with the 405.

Yes. When I bought my 405, I continued using the HR monitor that came with my 305. You probably need a new battery, and want to make sure in the settings that you manually make it search for the HR monitor the first time if it continues to not find it.

Thanks. This is what I was hoping.

They are compatible. The battery is a CR2032. Use a nickel to open and close the battery cover.

DLR is the man. No one sings a better version of Just a Gigolo. Was walking through the mall and heard that playing. Seemed a little surreal. Hard to imagine that's the new elevator music.

What about the 610? I bought the one with the 610, but will my 305 one work with it? (I guess I could just try it out and see...) It'd be great to have a spare.
Also, why are the garmin ones not compatible with polar treadmills, etc.? Anyone know?

Different radio frequency. The cheapo Nike Triax ones work with them though.

That is correct...so you have that option if you are looking for a less expensive route.
