No kidding! Heck, it even had ME considering racing another marathon.
You've got plenty of time to ease back into it. Enjoy the running!
Thanks!! I am shooting for another BQ this fall and getting older has made it a little easier for me, as I get an extra 5 minutes.
I have 3 years to knock off 90 minutes, so I can get into the 4 hour at 60 years old age group qualifier.
No problem, Ounce? Me, I'm figuring I'll need to wait until I'm 80.
There is always getting in on a charity...

Re: The "In Between"
Got in a good 5 miler today. I ventured off on a new route that I thought would take me 5 miles. I was pretty good at calculating, because I finished back at my house after 5.02 miles. Not too shabby...

Nice job! Ever think of renting yourself out to race directors? You'd make a fortune (well, maybe not a fortune) planning race courses!

Re: The "In Between"
Six miles today. Nice and comfortable...For the first time in a while, I actually felt like a runner. I ran another new route again. This time starting at my girlfriend's place and meeting up with the bike trail that I normally run on. 6.19 was the final tally...

Re: The "In Between"
It's been a pretty good week of running. I got in three 4 milers during the week (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). I capped the week off with a 11.5 mile run while visiting my parents house. It's always a change when I run at my parents house, as they have a crushed limestone train that ventures out into the country. So, I get a change of terrain and a change of scenery...

Oh, I forgot to mention that tomorrow starts my base building for my fall marathon training program. The base building will include hill repeats and progressive increases in long runs. I am hoping to hit training in good shape...

Yes sir. The plan is to use the same training program that I completed last summer/fall. It is a 19 week program that includes 5 or 6 20 mile long runs, fartleks, and a HM tune up race. Should be fun.

Re: The "In Between"
I started my Monday cross training last night. It was the first night of softball and I am surprisingly not that sore today. I thought that i would be with the sprinting, lateral movements, and the diving on the ground. I must have my legs in better shape than I originally thought.

Your legs are saying, "WTF?"
The Brewers must be out of town.

They are at home, but I am not going until this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) when they take on the Yankees.

Re: The "In Between"
Back at it yesterday after taking Tuesday off to rest my legs. 4.25 miles on a pretty decent day, outside of the wind. Today we are supposed to hit 80, so I hope that the rain holds off so I can get in a nice warmer run.

Last week was lower 50s and rain...horrible...This week it has been in the upper 50s to lower 60s...yesterday it was upper 60s...and today we are supposed to be in the lower 80s, which is more my cup of tea.

Re: The "In Between"
After having Jim look at my training schedule, I think that I am going to take his advice and add in some tempo runs. I think that it can only make me better.
Long runs
Two-a-days
Fartleks
Test HM
Tempos
I think that is a pretty good recipe

Re: The "In Between"
Finally a run where I built up a good lather. 83 degrees yesterday afternoon for my run. I got in a good 5 miles...hoping for good weather today, as I push for four days in a row of running this week.

Re: The "In Between"
Looks like you're ramping up for a good training period with a nice mix of runs that should have you in tip top shape for a fall marathon.

Re: The "In Between"
I finished out the running week with a 12 miler this morning after completing an eas 3.2 yesterday. 12.35 was the actual mileage at an 8:05 pace which is right about where I need to be in a few weeks.
Now I am off to Milwaukee for the rest of the weekend to take in two Brewers games versus the Yankees.

Weather permitting, tomorrow morning is my first hill repeats of the year. Quarter mile, steep grade, 4 up, 4 down...
