Re: An Arrest in Boston
Glued to the TV and computer watching what's happening (and has happened) in the last 8 hours or so. I keep wondering what these two brothers rub was against Boston, humanity, USA. I hope beyond hope they are able to catch the second brother ALIVE...and then I hope he spills his guts. Answers provide closure!

Unfortunately, I don't think that he will be taken alive...

Well I'm torn and to be honest I don't care if it is alive. If he is taken alive I hope they just blow off his legs!

Re: An Arrest in Boston
This is all incredibly upsetting to me. I am 25 miles from Boston, so
not in lockdown. But I used to live in Watertown and all the locations
you are hearing about in the news are very familiar to me.
This
morning, as I ate my breakfast and read about last night's Red Sox game
in the Globe, my husband and son were planning a trip to the Museum of
Science in Boston. Massachusetts public schools are on vacation this
week, and since I have not been able to get much work done the last few
days (I work from home), my husband was going to use his day off to take
my son out so I could work. I was actually looking forward to having a
cup of tea and concentrating on databases for awhile. Then he checked
his email and learned about the news, and needless to say, they didn't
go and I'm not getting any work done.
After the Newtown
shootings, I talked with my son about how tragedies like that happen on
occasion, but the chances of actually being involved in one are very,
very small. We talked about how lucky we are to live in a place where we
feel safe and secure. The events of the last few days have hit so close
to home, I am left feeling shaken to the core. But not changed. I just
hope that this awful situation is resolved without any more innocent
lives being taken.
When not attending to family priorities this
past week, I have spent my energy trying to learn about all that has
happened, so I haven't had time to write down my experiences. I hope to
get to that in the coming days. I know I am more of lurker than an
active participant in this forum, so most of you do not know me as well I
know you. But I appreciate the community here and would like to share
more with you soon.

The cops are very relaxing. That tells me he is surrounded somewhere inside.

Sounds like gunfire and no movement in the boat. He may be dead.

I hope this really helps with the closure and healing for all who were at Boston. Praying for all and hoping everyone sleeps a little better tonight.

You ARE part of us, Kathy...and you ARE going through everything our other Boston victims are going through. You didn't fly home wondering 'why'. You are living there wondering 'what the heck?!?' God bless you and help you recover, as well.
NOW, please Mass General...keep this young nut box alive, heal him. We need answers!
Re: An Arrest in Boston
I feel both relief and closure. Today was the first time I felt angry about the whole thing. Now I feel that we - Bostonians, the runners, their families, and victims have some vindication. This was personal for me - I grew up in Hopkinton, have friends living in/around Boston, used to watch the Boston Marathon as a child, and have run it every year since 2007. I like the whole "don't f*ck with us, we'll shut down the whole city" attitude.
Hopefully we'll get a lot of answers in the coming days.

Re: An Arrest in Boston
First time I believe that I really slept all week was last night - thank God. Now off for a run and to work a 24 hr race. I must say that today, I am more than proud to be a Bostonian, say things like "wicked", drop r's into words where they don't belong and peace to all of you.
Re: An Arrest in Boston
I've spent many of nights in Watertown as I have a friend who lives there so yesterday was pretty surreal. Glad it's over.
Michele, do you still have the accent now that you're living away?

Re: An Arrest in Boston
I had a running friend from Canada post on fb that he has a friend who has an 11 year old boy who has been training for a 10k, but due to the events of the past week, does not feel safe running this race up in Canada. I'm sure he's not the only one having second thoughts about running races. I hope that an adult steps up and offers to run the race with him. Multiple people would be even better.
I refuse to live my life based on fear. Don't get me wrong, if I knew for a fact that someone was waiting for me at mile 26 and would open fire, I would reroute. But the basis of so much of these kind of attacks is to propagate fear into the public psyche. Will there be more attacks in the future? Probably so. Where, or how we don't know. But if we make decisions based on fear, then the terrorists will win the battle. I will not be part of that.
I think the Boston police, FBI, federal, EMS, first responders, the race officials and others involved all have done an outstanding job of bringing these people down. I honestly did not expect this would be over in less than a week. I don't think these attackers thought that they would be identified so quickly and easily. I understand there are other photos that were not released that were much more damning than what we saw on television.
So I do plan on coming back next year and I understand that there is a lot of strong sentiment in that direction by many other runners.

Re: An Arrest in Boston
I just re-qualified for Boston a few weeks ago. I wasn't planning to run it in 2014, but now I'm much more inclined to make the trip. I know I speak for so many of us who just want to say, "We won't be intimidated."
Now I'm wondering how hard it will be to get in. Registration will be tough.
