Gotta set your goals high or else you just aren't pushing yourself.

It'll be a fun ride. Is Jerry running the Houston half with me?

No. If I were in any shape to race with you after China vacation, I would save the $30 transfer fee for a marathon PR instead. But I hope I can be there first.

Re: 2012 Goals
While I drop about 25 pounds off my frame, run a couple of more half-marathons in anticipation of a possible full marathon in 2013. Want to get my time down closer to the 2:00 range by the second race. Oh yeah, and try to check in on these forums more often than I have been able to. Hal's too.

Re: 2012 Goals
PR on Boston course. Should be easy, present is 3:24 from my only attempt.
3:10 or better by end of year.
sub 40:00 10K.
Run and train smart to stay healthy. This means backing off when the warning signs appear and ditching a race if necessary.

Re: 2012 Goals
Time to answer my own thread. I want 2012 to be one of setting PRs at every distance I race. I would also like to break under 3:00 in the marathon during the year. Continuing to stay healthy, training and motivated will all be necessary to hit the goals.
To have all new PRs by the end of 2012, I need to beat my times at 5K (18:26), 10K (38:40), 10M (1:04:10), 1/2 (1:24:32), full (3:09:43). Some of those should be pretty easy and others pretty tough. I don't race other distances like 1 mile, 8K and 15k too often but if I do, I want PRs there as well.

Not knockin' this, but my handy calculator said that was a half marathon or so a day. Fat-fingered the number or for real?

Re: 2012 Goals
Does it count to say I'm adding Relentless Forward Progress and Run Fast to my 2012 reading list?
For actual running, I'm not sure. Following a Pfitzinger 18/55 plan without injury?

Yeah, I suppose it is close to that amount. I'm closing in on 4,500 for the year now and will probably be closer to 4,550 by 12/31 so I was thinking another 50 miles or so next year couldn't be that hard, could it?

Re: 2012 Goals
To stop being such a wuss when it comes to tempo runs. Seems easy but I struggle at it.
And to take at least two consecutive weeks off with 0 miles. I seriously need it I have realized as I am burning out and loosing the motivation for workouts.

I'll go first
Only accomplishment was completing the MCM in the PR time of 6:21. I'm very happy with this result.
Unannounced goal of completing 3 marathons in 90 days was also accomplished. The races were the Air Force Marathon, the MCM, and the Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon.
The lack of consistent training led to not getting the rest.

Re: 2012 Goals
Nice job on the marathon PR, Clark. That's huge.
So, my turn next. Here's what I said:
I probably didn't do quite as much trail running this year as I'd hoped, but I did manage to...
-Lose a decent amount of weight (finally!), going from 186 to about 160.
-Focus on having fun (and not racing) to rebuild my body and recharge my enthusiasm.
-Discover that I really enjoy running barefoot - both on dirt and pavement. (Rocky trails? Not so much. Yet.)
I'm looking forward to what new adventures 2013 will bring. More on that later.

Boston- nah, but neither did most others.
Stayed healthy, relatively, so 3 out 4 ain't bad.

Run consistently and don't break anything. Pretty simple.

Reasonably healthy going into Boston, shit race.
Nope.
Not even close. But only 4hr shy of total training time (390hr this year, 394.5hr last year).
Re: 2012 Goals
I set the bar low - just keep running - so cleared it easily, and stayed healthy for a change, while completing three marathons. Slow, though. It was a tough year personally, and just running helped!

Same here, but just 2 marathons. Running is very healing.

Re: 2012 Goals
Not really a "New Year" resolution, but I did resolve, after April's London Marathon, that I would stay injury-free.
I've been injured since early October, so I guess that's a failure
