Scotty sings a great National Anthem.
Cruz does not hit another home run tonight, but Hamilton(opposite field) and Pujols do.

Re: World Series... Game 1 predictions
Carpenter blows out his sore elbow. Pujols announces in the 3rd inning he's signing with the Cubs the day free agency opens. Selig announces in the 4th that Holliday tested positive for 'roids. Yadier gets hepatitis from his dirty neck tattoos. Theriot and Furcal attack each other in the dugout and sprain their shoulders simulataneously, but as injury prone, overrated middle infielders, no one is surprised. The entire time, Fat Elvis Berkman is eating a Big Mac on the bench while Jason Motte and Fernando Salas get arrested for squirrel abuse in the bullpen. Just when things couldn't get worse, the entire crowd, while stupidly chanting "Happy Flight! Happy Flight!" is inflicted with food poisoning due to a faulty batch of Budweiser.
Then, after the game, LaRussa and Freese got yet another DUI.
What, is that asking too much?

I take it, then, that you fully expect the Cards to win?

What are your thoughts on the missed call last night in the 9th? With human error always a possibility, should MLB move to more reviews to make sure they get the calls right?

No thoughts on the call last night. I think all of the replay efforts take away from the flow of the game and should be done away with in all sports. I think we should evaluate the performance of all officials and if they consistently make errors should be removed from their job. The human element has been the tradition of most sports, call me old school but that is what I would prefer.

Just because something's always been done one way doesn't make it right. I really don't care how long it takes or how embarrassed the umps get for screwing up, I want the right call made whenever possible.

I'm with you. Games already take 3-4 hours. Take the extra 2 minutes to get the calls right. Wrongfully taking the bat away from the hottest hitter in the world is unacceptable.
I'm not convinced in the accuracy of computerized strike zones, though.
Re: World Series... Game 1 predictions
I like reviews, BUT... (and pretty much no one agrees with me on this)... I think that reviews should only be done at game speed. I think that only calls that are obviously wrong at game speed should be overturned. I feel that way about football in particular, but would feel the same if they instituted reviews in MLB. That maintains the human element while also allowing for redress on 'blown' calls.

I'd be happpier with bigger strike zones. I think that would quicken the pace of the game. It is also too bad that the networks have made all the games in the evening, preventing many kids from watching the World Series.
Very bad play by Pujols not to be where he should have been on that single that allowed the runner to advance to second in the ninth.

Re: World Series... Game 1 predictions
10 1/2 games back in late August... made the wild card playoff on the last day of the season. Knocked off the favorite Phillies and Brewers to ge to the WS... seriously? Down to a single strike twice in game 6 and rallied with RBI hits? Seriously? Wow.

Quite a series! The sports guys at my paper just about went nuts last night... the planned headline kept changing! Tonight's game, on the other hand, felt like a coronation.
