Re: Days of the Phoenix
The short of it -
My watch is VERY GENEROUS and had me running a 26.6mi race (I ran the tangents) at a 7:19 pace. In reality, 7:26 pace to barely hit my goal. Cut it pretty close as I ran faster than I trained for from mile 7-20 and barely held it together for the last 5k. Am very excited to get back to training despite an overall mediocre race, and I have a newfound respect for the distance.

Re: Days of the Phoenix
Back in VA. Left quad cramp has gone away and the legs feel about 85% normal. We'll see how that number changes during my run tomorrow.
Race report to come tomorrow afternoon, probably.

Re: Days of the Phoenix
I guess this one technically should go in the new (not yet existent) blog, but I probably won't start that one til this weekend...
30min recovery run today. First run and first stretching since TCM... As well as my first run in new shoes (Ghost 7s). My hamstrings and glutes are tight and sore, and my metatarsals feel a little smooshed from the midfoot of the shoe. Just need to break it in and get that padding softer.
Race pics were posted today. Here's a gem from around mile 24:

Re: Days of the Phoenix
You look good there, Mike. Is that near the "Target" tunnel? That is about all I remember after the hill until the drop to the finish. I do remember the beautiful park though that was early in the race.
Keep running with crazy Kevin and Chris and you'll be back visiting Boston in no time.

Looks like you're holding up pretty well in that photo, Mike! Very focused.
Careful with those new shoes. Smooshed metatarsals aren't exactly optimal.

Re: Days of the Phoenix
Michele - I have no idea where it was. I don't remember much of Summit other than Victoria was NOT the top (as my brother suggested), as there were 2-3 more rollers after it.
Mark - Yeah, I'm going to keep them for short runs only until they stretch out.
Nick - Yep. That'll be announced in the next blog.

This blog now draws to a close. Thanks for reading and taking the journey with me. I promise the next one will be as, if not more, adventurous.
