Man I've never seen anything like that, and I run on that exact section about 3-4 times a week. The water can come up high, but never waves like that.

Even in Cleveland, I'm several hundred feet above the lake on the west side.

Martin and I run this often and I've seen waves like this before. He tried getting me to run in it one time late last fall and I told him that it was like something out the Deadliest Catch. I've never seen runners and bikers get knocked down though!

I bet that runner wasnt planning on coming home completely soaked THAT day! Those shoes needed some time to dry out

I think the runner checked his Garmin after being wiped out. I love the thought of him thinking "damn, that just cost me 20 seconds - now I need to pick it up"

Weird. I didn't see any bikers at all. A few cyclists, but no bikers...

Seriously funny (in that not-ha-ha way) shit though. This has happened to me once while running on a beach that came right up to a cliff face. It's not at all a pleasant experience.

I have had to outrun some waves in that area, but never anything that large.

They were predicting 20 foot waves due to high winds coming from the north yesterday and today and it looks like they were right. There were ample warnings. No this is not part of the marathon course. Looks like south of Oak Street beach on the bike path. In the winter the freezing and thawing along with waves carves out huge chunks of concrete along the path.
