World Championships
So is anyone excited to watch or follow Worlds? Unfortunately, I do not get Universal sports, so I can only watch the crummy coverage on NBC, but there are some great races to follow including Mo Farrar in the 10K, the Ethiopian women in the 5 and 10K races, Jenny Simpson in the mile, and Deena Kastor in the marathon. Deena ran a Masters (time) American Record in the 10k last weekend at Beach to Beacon. It isn't recognized as a true record as there is a "net" downhill, but the time was 20 secs faster than Colleen DeReuck's previous mark. I've run that B2B course and it isn't that easy especially with the climb near the end. I've always liked Deena, so I hope she cracks the top 5 like she wants or even the top 10!
Re: World Championships
The officials at B2B said that Deena's record doesn't stand because of the point to point nature of the race. The downhill was acceptable. There can only be about half the distance(maybe less)? allowed between the start and finish line, and B2B is closer to 4-5 miles as the osprey flies.

Got it, Diego. I would say 4-5 miles is right - in fact, it might be closer to 6. In my books, it stands as again, that is not an easy 10K.
Re: World Championships
Right, I get to see 1.5 hours on both Saturday and Sunday, that's it. Thanks, Infinity/comcast whoever you are.

Re: World Championships
Deena was 9th overall in conditions that were not suited for marathoning at all. The US team was 2nd, and three of the Ethiopian women dropped out.
Mo Farah outkicked in the final few metres to take the win and Rupp ended up 4th in the 10K. Ritz put on a strong show with 1000 m to go, but got run down. He and Rupp did run their best times of 2013, and again, the weather was not very accommodating.

Dot, be happy. No streaming video and only premium satellite TV coverage out of South Africa here in Nigeria. At least you get something. I am relegated to replays when they're available and live online radio coverage from IAAF itself through IAAF Radio in Moscow on this page:dot520 wrote:Right, I get to see 1.5 hours on both Saturday and Sunday, that's it. As Steve said ... the watchathletics.com is site is loaded with malware, adware and all kinds of stuff not related to athletics or video streaming. AVOIDDave Bussard wrote:Wood is you can watch it streaming live, for free, here http://www.watchathletics.com/schedule/watchlive/702

Re: World Championships
When searching for live video streaming feeds, one encounters many sites that are scams and much worse than Watchathletics.com ... which is a legitimate site. Streaming of LIVE events works only in certain countries - US, UK, etc. Thankfully, I can get replays of events a day later.Dave Bussard wrote:Really?!? But even though Watchathletics.com is legit, adware may afix itself if you use this site without protections. I too use Firefox (24.0 Beta right now), but with NoScript ... scripts are blocked unless I explicitly authorize them. One would be well advised to use similar protections.

Sure was a great one! Gatlin is not a small guy, and wow, Bolt just looks huge (tall) next to them all. Way to run!Nick Morris wrote:Damn...Good race by Gatlin in the 100 final. For a minute there I thought that he had Bolt. Bolt just finishes so strong!!
