Lincoln Marathon!
I signed up for the full, it's on May 5! I have run the half there 6 years in a row. Since I didn't get to do my fall event (double half marathon) and didn't get anyone in my family/running circle to commit to a destination winter marathon, I decided to go for it! This will be #7!
Re: Lincoln Marathon!
Peg, sounds like fun. Lincoln is one of my favorite marathons; one of these years I will come back and run it again.

Re: Lincoln Marathon!
I'm thinking about running Lincoln in 2014. It was my first marathon back in 1992!
Re: Lincoln Marathon!
yay! I'll probably volunteer again this year.

Re: Lincoln Marathon!
Carleen - if you do want to do it in 2014 make sure you sign up right away. The half filled in about 16 hrs this yr. and both the full and half are closed now.

Re: Lincoln Marathon!
I saw that! I'll have to pay attention for when it opens for registration next year!
Mopac trail?
Hey Julie--do you know if the mopac trail east of Lincoln is ice packed or clear? I'm itching to run somewhere else--my running options are limited to ice packed town streets or the one clear county road!
Training officially started this week. Did my 10 mile long run Friday. Day off today and easy run tomorrow.

Hmm, I might have to run this next year as I have never been to Nebraska and I know people there!

I so miss that trail! I used to run and bike it all the time!

Do it!
Re: Lincoln Marathon!
Michele - definitely do it! It is a good race although I wish they'd stagger the half and full start times because the slower runners really don't cross the start line for 30-45 min but you'd line up toward the front anyway and would be OK. Free pasta dinner for all the night before, too.
Peg - I haven't been east of 84th on MoPac since our snow but there has been a lot of melting the last few days. I plan to run tomorrow. I haven't run outside since last Sunday because I just can't run in the dark with the ice, especially with still having a surgical wound and don't want to rip it open.
ETA: the trail is very snowy east of 84th. It hasn't been bladed one bit so I wouldn't bother trying to run on it. If you came into Lincoln, though, you could run on MoPac west of 84th or any of the other paved trails.

Re: Lincoln Marathon!
Thanks Julie. I work in Lincoln once a week, usually Fridays, and I have brought running stuff a few times and ran the trail--so pretty. But since the snow I haven't even bothered. I'd love to run the second half of the marathon course as a training run once--I've never done the full course so it might help me mentally to do that!
Re: Lincoln Marathon!
I did that once, before I ran the full for the first time and it really helped. The streets are fine now, I would go for it, just the trail east of 84th is so shaded it's hard for it to melt.
