Just get rid of those pesky screens blocking the scenery...

Funny, I thought the same thing! Haha! They charge $10.00 to use the treadmills...can you believe it?

The good news of Arizona is it is dry. If you go up to the mountain, you can get cool temperature. Texas has neither.

Is that a business expense then? 10 dollars per time or for the whole stay? I have never heard of that but I haven't ever stayed anywhere that nice.

True, and I've contemplated running outside while there. The only real issue I have isn't really the heat as much as it is that I don't know the area. Scottsdale is really nice...you get too far out of it and it gets shady. I was there for the Rock n' Roll Half in 2007 and stayed in Phoenix. I was happy to wander over to ScottsdaleJerry wrote:The good news of Arizona is it is dry. If you go up to the mountain, you can get cool temperature. Texas has neither.
I will try to get out and run in the heat and take in the views, too though. However, I will keep it to shorter distances. I'm only going to be there for a day and a half and then come home.

Trust me, I'm expensing it! Work is making us go and I have to continue my running. I about died when they told me over the phone. In fact, I think it may even be $20.00 if I go when there is a fitness class going on while in the fitness room. It's $10.00 each time you go in, because it's part of the "spa".

Enjoy the views, that's the point. Doesn't matter how long you run. I did 1.5mile this morning.

oh brother, than I'd make my 10 dollars worth it, i.e., several long runs vs short ones.

Re: I know I'll have a "Perfect" Training Cycle - Chicago, 2011
I went to ASU and here is my running story. ASU is in Scottsdale. I ran a few miles (no I was not runner back then) and ended up in that shady place and some older guy in a car tried to pick me up. Saying "Hi there would you like a ride".
I got scared shit and ran my ass of back to campus. So yea. Running where I don't know the area tends to make me think of that day.

I'll take in the views on a run, no matter how short. It will be nice to run in dry heat as opposed to the high humidity.Jerry wrote:Enjoy the views, that's the point. Doesn't matter how long you run. I did 1.5mile this morning.
The hotel itself looks really nice: http://www.flickr.com//photos/thephoenician-scottsdale/sets/72157612754402127/show/

Kenny, that is really, really scary! God forbid...I couldn't imagine - I don't want to! THAT is exactly why I won't run too far away from the hotel. I'm glad you were able to run wicked fast back home!

Re: I know I'll have a "Perfect" Training Cycle - Chicago, 2011
I guess they can charge $10 for a treadmill because they know real people can't possibly run outside - they just don't know Lisa. My guess is that the heat is just too much even if it is dry in August in Arizona - guess you just might have to spend the $10.
By the way, your runs are looking excellent and I hope they are feeling as easy as they look in print.

I am freeing myself of expectation, needs and wants and turning them into preferences, desires and goals.
This was my PM run affirmation thought you would like it. Worked well for me to get through the hot 4 miles.

LOVE IT! It actually got me out the door. No joke. Thanks for posting! In fact, I ended up having a pretty good 5 miler tonight with my hubby! Thanks for the mental boost!

Re: I know I'll have a "Perfect" Training Cycle - Chicago, 2011
Tonight's run of 5 miles was really nice. It took a little motivation to get out there (thank you Kenny), but once out there with Martin, it was great! We had some nice conversation and the weather was actually really nice! I thought my legs would be heavy, but to my surprise, they felt really good. The temp 80 F, 60% humidity, 63 F dew point. You know it's been hot when that is nice! Haha!
Here are my splits. We averaged a 9:24 pace with my HR average at 159.
1 00:09:54
2 00:09:45
3 00:09:38
4 00:09:04
5 00:08:42
Tomorrow is a nice, short, well deserved 4 miler. I have 16 miles on Sunday.

Hey there Michele, you're too sweet! I admire you so much and I appreciate your posts to my blog and the props you send my way. It keeps that fire lit under me.
I'll be spending the $10...I get to stare at beautiful cacti and flowers...come winter, I'll be staring at the median on State Street! Haha!

Good run tonight Lisa!!! I think that the ones that you get out and do even though you don't feel like it end up being some of the most important ones. Good luck with your 20 miles this weekend...

Nice run bet you feel better running vs. not. Why am I up its 4:15am on sat?
Re: I know I'll have a "Perfect" Training Cycle - Chicago, 2011
nice run, 60% humidity sound so nice!
I just checked our month's weather on weather.com and our lowest temp we ever hit for July is only 2 degrees cooler than our average low. We've had significantly higher than normal temps for highs and lows all month. No wonder it feels hot.
Have a good long run this wkend!

Awesome job today Lisa! It sure was a tough day and pretty darn hot out there but hey like you said you got it done! Just keep doing what you are doing and the benefits and gains will come.
Really had fun with you running on the trails today, much more fun then doing all the run on roads. Fun Fun Fun Fun!
