2011 California International Marathon
Hi all!
Many of you may have seen my brief report on this year's CIM on Facebook ... but just in case ya missed it ... let me summarize:
* freezing cold start (actually sub freezing which is unusual for Sacramento winter)
* Sun came out eventually about half-way ... nice day for running after that.
* Ran the whole race other than walking through water stations - first time ever I've run that much of a marathon
* Ran the first half by myself ... set a new half PR (2:28 vs a previous PR of 2:43)
* Met up with a friend at the half-way point and she distracted me/paced me/cajoled me through the second half
* Finish was 5:10 ... a PR of about 34 minutes; I had been hoping hoping hoping for 5:30
* Feel pretty good except for one very pissed off knee ... guess I'll have to give it a rest for at least a few days <eg>
* Seriously considering a 50K here in Sac on February 4, 2012 (crazy, eh?)
That's it for me ... I'm going to enjoy my nice warm bed tonight!
Happy running to all!

Congratulations, that is a huge PR!! Give your knee time to rest so you can continue to set more PR's. What is your overall take on the course? This is one I've considered. Hilly? Good support as far as aide stations?

Way to go on a super performance Reina!
That's a huge leap in progress. I hope the knee calms down soon.

That's a huge PR, no doubt. How much was the result of weight loss?
Congratulations, Reina!

Congrats on the HUGE PR and good luck on your 50k. Now take care of that knee and allow your body to recover for a few.

Re: 2011 California International Marathon
That's just super spectacular, Reina!! I am so happy for you, girlfriend. I guess all those serious mileage weeks paid off for you BIG TIME!!!
As far as the 50K, I'd do it if it was a trail run and if you had 9 hours to do it. They're so much fun because only the first 10 or so contestants are really in it to win it and everyone else is just there to get through the distance, plus encourage the others. There's no time push, so relax and enjoy it.
