"The Boston Marathon
After a busy weekend of analysis and the verification of qualifying performances from applicants who submitted an entry for the 2012 Boston Marathon, both those who are accepted and those who the race is unable to accept will begin to receive notification this afternoon. We once again appreciate the cooperation we received from marathoners during this process. Congratulations to those who will be running here on April 16, 2012, but we also wish to extend our thanks to those who we cannot accept for submitting their entry. After all applicants are notified and later this afternoon, the B.A.A. will post to www.baa.org the qualifying times across all age groups and for both genders which were needed for entry this year."

Just got my confirmation at 1:28 p.m. (EDT). I was 4:44 below my qualifying time; it will be interesting to see where the cutline is going to be.

I made it. Pretty stoked. Even though I hate running right now. Very Happy

So based on this year's cut-off time, with the standard being lowered by 5 minutes next year anyone that runs the new standard would be able to get in. So it would be back to a real BQ and not a BQTR (Boston Qualified To Register).

Indeed, Tim. In fact, with the new qualifying times next year... Boston might not... wait for it... might not... here is comes... might not... sell out!

I think that was what Chris said in the Boston 2012 thread, essentially. It gives me still a faint glimmer of hope in maybe 10-20 yrs I can still get in with a BQ time instead of working for lower than that.

Just more room for charity runners.

No doubt Matt, that was the first thing I said to Lisa yesterday, that I felt that there is a good chance that Boston may not sell out. Maybe the only thing that they really needed to put in place was the different sign-up days. Again only time will tell!

Tim stop picking on me I have been a charity all my life!
