Neck Problem
In November of last year, I was goofing around with my kids in a pool and my oldest boy jumped into the pool and proceeded to land right on my head. My neck kind of snapped back and it hurt, but I figured it would just go away in a few days. Well here we are, 8 months later, and I still can't turn my head all the way without some pain. Now obviously, I can live with this, but I must say, it is getting annoying. What do I do with something like this? I'm not a big fan of Chiropractors, but is there any other option for a neck injury? I haven't done a thing to try and remedy the problem, so there might be a simple answer out there, but I'm too stupid to figure it out, so I'm posting it here.

Just don't turn your head then.

Can I have your stuff??
A chiropractor or physical therapist or even a massage therapist might be able to help. Some chiros have massage therapists in their offices.

I gotta say if it's still bothering you 8 months later, maybe you should see a doc. I know you know that though
What about an inversion table? Or maybe some neck exercises. I bet these would really help without having to see a chiro

I'm not a huge fan of chiros either but I know some people swear by them. Eight months is a long time to have an issue. My guess is if you see an orthopaedic doc, they may order an MRI done. Eight months should have healed any sudden pull or stress, so it's worth a doctor visit.

Re: Neck Problem
Have you tried gentle stretching and heat? Can your wife gently massage it to work out any major muscle spasms? If that doesn't work, I'd see a sports medicine doctor, and ask about muscle relaxants, physical therapy, and whether they think imaging it would be necessary.

Re: Neck Problem
Greg, an osteopathic exam with manipulation(OMT) would also work. You could check with the same sports doc that Dave-O used to see if they have some sports D.O's around to help with this.
The most expeditious method may be physical therapy, however. In many states you can see a PT once before you need a referral.

Are you sure you're a doctor, Jim?

Rough crowd - go see a MD. I wouldn't want to either, but you asked...

Unfortunately, this is not the case in Illinois.

Re: Neck Problem
My vote is to see a sports orthopeadic doctor. Many will recommend a D.O. or a chiropractor or a LMT or PT for therapy. Let the sports ortho do the diagnosing and referral.
Re: Neck Problem
That sounds terrible Greg! Go see a specialist before it becomes a quality of life issue, which it sounds like it might be already, given that you are asking us for advice.
