And the Winner Is - LA
Los Angeles was granted the 2016 US Olympic marathon trials in February, 2016. Interestingly enough, Tracey Russell was the CEO of the Atlanta Track Club before leaving earlier this summer to take over the LA position. At least the runners know that she has experience putting on the largest 10K in the US.

Sorry, Ounce.
Dammit it all to hell.
However, gratz to LA! It was a fun time to watch, in 2012, these elites do their thing at the same overall time that I hope to do a Half, someday. And I got to meet some of the 365's that ordinarily wouldn't have been coming to Houston. Plus, I got to cart Kevin and Michele around in my car. How many of y'all can say THAT! (No pictures, so it's my word against y'alls. )
If you get or want the opportunity to volunteer for the Trials in Los Angeles, you won't regret it.

Has she checked out this group? It is lead by Jill Horst's husband and I assume she knows Jill through the Atlanta Track Club Competitive Team.

The USTAF voted 5-0 to have it in Houston but......
According to a report published in the industry newsletter Road Race Management last month, a five-member panel appointed by USATF to review the bids voted 5-0 to accept Houston’s bid, but that Siegel preferred the Trials go to Los Angeles, a larger media market.
Great...Maybe we get it in 2020.

I think she runs with this group once in a while. In fact I think she ran for ATC in Chicago, but was part of their team for the team standings. They've been recruiting her hard. But she likes ATC and the fact that they've reimbursed her for some flights and she was able to run the National Team XC Championships in Bend this last Dec. If I recall, one concern she had was that Mr. Horst says he needs to be the coach which she understands, but she is really happy with the progress she is making being coached by one of the Hansons-Brooks runners, even though its long distance. Let me double check with her, but I think this is the group.Michele \"1L" Keane wrote:With Chelsea?mountandog wrote:I'm hoping to be there

Yup = that's the group. I just scrolled down the FB page and she ran for them in Chi.mountandog wrote:I think she runs with this group once in a while. Re: And the Winner Is - LA
I ran for the ATC Women's Masters Team and we were coached by outside sources rather than our own coach. They pay expenses (up to $300) 1-2 races per year and it was kind of cool to run things like the XC Club Nationals (which I ran with them in 2011) and it was nice to have the tickets, etc handled.
However, when I was Chelsea's age, I ran for the BAARC (Boston Athletic Association) out of Boston and we had a team coach that really helped me progress. I ran Marine Corps in 1987 with the hopes of qualifying for the trials (which was a long shot as I had to run 2:50). I didn't make the time, but I did run my PR. I then turned all my attention to shorter races for the next 13 yrs!!
I think that Jill's husband (Ben, I think) pushes them a bit hard, but he has taken her (Jill) from a decent age grouper to a winner and trials qualifier. He is only interested in working with women of Chelsea's age, so I haven't run under him, but for the most part, the girls are pleased with his direction. She can run for the ATC Women's team (not Horst's team) and still be reimbursed and use an outside coach. Jill (your sis) and I did that.
