Top 5 List - Current Favorite Running Songs
For those of you who listen to music while running, what are your current 5 favorite songs to listen to during the run? My list changes constantly but if I had to pick 5 and only 5 today, it is:
Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Uprising - Muse
The Royal We - Silversun Pickups
Surrender - Angels & Airwaves
Life Less Frightening - Rise Against

Crud, I'm already violating the top5 being 5 only because Girl's Not Grey by AFI HAS to be my top 5. Hmm. I gotta fire something from my list above and I'm sure as others answer this, my list will continue to change.

Wow...I've never heard of any of those bands or songs. Guess I'm showing my age here. Today I ran 10 miler with my Oakley Thumps loaded with The Beatles Abbey Road and Let It Be. Anyone heard of them?

Hi DaveB - good to see you here. I'm glad that I have a 19 yr old as I know My Chemical Romance and Muse. I'd rather listen to the back side of Abbey Road or Let it Be though.
Re: Top 5 List - Current Favorite Running Songs
My top 5 are:
Boston: Don't Look Back
REO: Roll With the Changes
Springsteen: Born to Run
Fleetwood Mac: Don't Stop
Don't Stop Believing (The Glee version instead of the Journey version)
I have a ton of hip hop on my running lists, but somehow my top songs are all older.

Re: Top 5 List - Current Favorite Running Songs
Ooh, love the Boston, Fleetwood Mac, and Journey. But right now (and this may change from week to week) I would have to put this as my top 5:
Colbie Caillat: Brighter Than the Sun
Christina Perri: A Thousand Years
ABBA: Dancing Queen
Michael Bublé: Everything
Vintage Trouble: Nancy Lee
Yes, I am married with three kids.

1) Capital Cities "Safe and Sound" very cool video
2) Capital Cities featuring Tupac Shakur in a cover of Pink Floyd's "Breathe".
3) La Roux "Bulletproof"
4) Fun. "Carry On"
5) Dirty Vegas " I should know"
6) Delta Rae "Bottom of the River"
Imagine Dragons and Of Monsters and Men are cool, too.

Cool; maybe you need to set your sights on ZZ Ward now that the two groups are/were touring together.

Also, my music of choice lately has been the Black Keys newest album straight through. Good stuff.

So, let me bring the average age of the songs up a few decades.
- I Can't Help It (if I'm still in love with you) - Linda Ronstadt
- Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Love of My Life - Queen (1986 Wembley concert)
- Rock & Roll - Led Zeppelin
- I Can Still Make Cheyenne - George Strait

At least I recognize some of these titles ! Actually I do like some My Chemical Romance and even some Black Keys. the rest of the mainstream I'm not so up on unless they are bands like All Time Low, or The Summer Set, or The Maine which are some of my daughter's favorites.
Re: Top 5 List - Current Favorite Running Songs
And I'm sure I would like some of the new stuff, too. Heck, I bought "Mirrors" by Justin Timberlake, so I am not completely stuck in the classics.

Re: Top 5 List - Current Favorite Running Songs
I don't have running songs, per se, but I have get-pumped-before-any-tough-workout songs...
AWOLNATION - Sail
Skrillex - Kyoto
Skrillex - First of the Year
Marilyn Manson - This is the New Shit
(and if you wanted to see a very skilled ASL interpretation of it...)
Can't think of a 5th right now.
