Today's email from NYRR:

Dear Runners,

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time in New York City. The cancellation of this year's marathon was an unprecedented event, which we know has left many unanswered questions for all of you.

Please know that our priority is to address your concerns. We ask that you give us a little time to work out the details and make thoughtful decisions. We are very grateful for your continued patience.

We will do all that we can to have these issues sorted out in the coming weeks.

Thank you,
New York Road Runners

Seems they should have canceled right away as a lot of people traveled there thinking it was on. I found it amazing that the Road Runners group had $1,000,000 spare cash to donate. Aren't they supposed to be non-profit? And even if they are, I thought that meant they wouldn't have such cash reserves.

NYRR increased the price by $60 this year for the marathon. A year ago they said the cost increase was to pay for the police OT the day of the race....

Well 47,000 * $60 = $2.82M

NYRR is doing just fine.
