George Sheehan Classic Race Report
NEW PR!
Ran this race for the 3rd time. My PR is on this course last year of 35:35. Goal was to go sub 35 thinking 34:20 was doable. The weather was 72 degrees w/85-90% humidity and Sunny making the day a challenge from the start. Plan was to run 7:00min splits first 2 miles and see if I can drop it down from there. I hit Mile 1 and 2 @ 7:00 on the nose but did not think I could drop faster splits from there. The humidity was affecting me. Mile 3 was 6:58 but at 3.5 miles my legs where starting to fade. Knowing Mile 4 was some elevation I would slow down to 7:18. I was hoping to maintain 7:00 pace. The last mile has a steep hill but the last half is fast as you come down it. Clocked 6:54 split (vs. 6:48 last year). I did finish with a very strong kick passing quite a few runners. Final time 35:13 (Unofficial). This was a 20 sec PR. Can't complain! I did meet fellow Marathon Maniac #53 at the end which was cool

Alright Kenny 20 second PR is huge in a 5 mile race. You are also well on your way of going sub 35. I think that today gives you a good basis on were you are and what you have to do for that July 9th race. Congrats

No doubt that humidity cost you some time, and even still, you busted out a PR. Well done.

Congrats on the PR, Kenny. It was definitely humid in our area Saturday morning so that makes your PR that much more impressive.
