P90X
Is it easy to cut down the volume/intensity of P90X for someone who is not up to the 6x1 hour session/week or doesn't have the time?

Re: P90X
I'll defer to Tim Miller on this one. He's the P90X expert.
I do the Ab Ripper X, and during down periods, Yoga. I find them both beneficial, but I havent tried to incorporate the rest into my weekly routine.

Like Dave, I only incorporate a few of the discs/workouts (ab ripper x, plyometrics, and yoga). I would think that you can cut back on the number of workouts, but you will not get the full benefits of the program if you do not follow it completely.

Re: P90X
I believe there is a more intermediate or beginner version - is there not? Less intense and takes less time. I know one of the women on my tennis team mentioned it.
Re: P90X
We take the ala carte approach as well. Just do the parts you have time for/benefit running.

Re: P90X
When I did P90x with running, I cut out all the leg and cardio DVDs. I just did the upper body, yoga, and ab ripper on non-running days and alternated them around some.
Re: P90X
I know that Greg C. has had huge success with Jillian Michael's Shred. That might be more geared towards your ability. Leave the P90X to the big boys.

When I did it I only did it on my days I couldn't run (ice, snow, whatever reason). Now I do the 30 day shred and find it a lot more manageable but still a great workout using muscles I normally don't use during running.

I have a friend who is doing 'bootcamp'...but the same guy. I believe that's only 30 minutes. She loves it.

Of cause you can modify it. You can pick and choose the disks that you like, he shows you modifications of each move if you want the less intense variety or you can simply stop the DVD half way through. There are all kinds of options.
Or you can get super sonic x fit.
I think the ones that apply most directly to running are ab ripper, core synergistics, plyometrics and yoga. The others are cardio or upper body routines.
If you haven't purchased it yet then you may want to consider p90x2. I have it but haven't done enough of it to recommend it based on personal experience. It is supposed to be more geared toward athletes and improved performance.

This is what we decided for my wife. Ha!

I am losing motivation to run this year. One day I was thinking: why don't I just stop running and pick up P90X?
After some looking, I decided to go back to running.

Running is much easier, in my experience.

Funny. Seriously, though, it's easier to run, and it's more fun to get outside unless it's terribly hot or cold.
