Cape Cod in a Nor'easter? Empty Cape Cod in a Nor'easter?

Post  Michael Enright Fri Oct 28, 2011 3:42 pm

Alex and I are each running Cape Cod this weekend. I am running the full on Sunday and Alex is running both the half on Saturday and the full on Sunday (that's the "Chowdah Challenge"). The current forecast calls for a windy mix of rain and SNOW during the full! So wish us both luck and warmth! Hard to believe that I'm hoping for warmer temps than are forecasted!

Sounds like the winter weather might be just as crazy as the summer weather was. Good luck out there!!

Thanks Ken!
The forecast for Sunday currently calls for upper 30s with snow and rain, along with 30+ mph winds (those aren't the gusts!) during the race...

I definitely wish you both luck, but I'd seriously consider staying in bed and looking for another race in the next couple of weeks.

Embrace the elements, you're a marathoner! Seriously glad you'll be doing the embracing and not me. I've done some brutal winter trail races up to 15K only. Maybe it won't be that bad. Have a good race!

Good luck, Michael and Alex. I hope it goes great, just allow for whatever Mother Nature throws at you. Have a great day (or days).

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back. . .

And . . . may the freezing rain and snow not be too bothersome . . .

Good news - just really windy and cold (38-43 for race time; 30 mph with higher gusts). I'm wearing the tights! Thanks everybody!

About 4:10. Cold and windy and a tough course. I'm a happy camper - now I have to drive 150 miles home and deal with a frickin' foot of snow!

Hope the drive home doesn't take as long as the race!

Good job in those conditions.

1:58 for the Half on Saturday and 4:17 for the Full Sunday. Met Michael a little past the 1 mile marker today. Great job by him today in not the greatest conditions. Pretty sore right now. I'm so glad it's over.

Alex, it was great to meet you - glad I was able to pick you out of the crowd! That Challenge is crazy, particularly on that course - you are one tough hombre.

Thanks all! Drive wasn't too bad- a bit under 3 hours. One break to get gas and stretch. It wasn't bad driving until the last few miles: street lights out (no power) and detours due to trees down and blocking roads. We have power, but a tree dangling on the line, and that same tree tool out the cable (and internet) meaning my long-winded race report will be delayed. : (

Thank goodness for my iPhone!
