To all those signing up, please voice your opinion as to what you want to see in these forums. This was all thrown together pretty quickly yesterday - many THANKS MRMattM - so nothing is set in stone.

More sub-forums? Less?

I'm not sure we need a whole section on Running Plans, or on Gear. Those conversations seem to just come up occasionally in other places. Maybe a dedicated spot for them would work, but if you want to trim a little fat, that might be the place to do it.

Otherwise, AWESOME so far!

I think its worth combining the Training Plans and General Running section.

I can go either way on Gear. There seems to be a lot of discussion on watches, shoes, treadmills, etc, but that could go in the General Conversation.

Edited: I see its been narrowed to 5 forums. Looks good to me!

I will leave it as is now unless a change is requested. I think we're good.

Calendar question: Should everyone be able to update the calendar?

Yep Thanks a lot Matt! What a great way to continue the family. I will look over things today and see if I have any suggestions on the setup and thread topics etc.

My vote is yes. I think that's easier than having one of us update it every time someone signs up for a race. Once we have a billion members that will be tough.

Does it save work for the admins to do that or will it cause clutter for multiple people to enter an event? I'm not sure how it would work if someone else entered that they were running Chicago. Would they be added to the list or would it make a 2nd Chicago entry line with their name on it.

I would think that it would make easier for everyone to update there own races. But I'm not sure how it effects the forums, if you think by having everyone updating it, it could cause problems then I would say we should have one person updating it. So if you go that route I would put myself on the list to help out and update the calendar.

All members can now add events to the calendar. When an event is created, it automatically creates a thread in the Races forum (which I think is really cool). If it gets ugly, we'll trim it back to moderators or something... cheers

Hopefully if someone goes to add an event, and sees one created, he or she will just add their name to it.

I'm not seeing a way to add events. Maybe it's just me. From what I've read, there should be a little box in the bottom right corner of each day in the calendar, but I don't see one.

edit: Never mind. It was me. I figured it out.

Click Calendar Bottom of page in the center says "add event"

That did not work for me actually! I think on the date of your event bottom right.

How about disable the default "Notify me when a reply is posted."? I personally don't want email notification and don't want to uncheck it every time I post.

Jerry, if you click 'profile' at the top of the screen, and then hit preferences, you can disable the automatic notification.

I see how to add to the calendar - but is there a way that it will not make you post?

Yeah, I think a post for every race being added to the calendar may cause many race reports/questions to get lost in the noise.
