Boston Marathon 2015
So the BAA announced that registration for the 2015 Boston Marathon will begin on 9/8.

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
For the 2013 race, how long did the registration stay open? Or put another way, did registration last for those that made the time qualifier less than 5 minutes of the age standard?

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
Yes, I think the cutoff for entrants who did not quite make it was just under 2 min. The field was expanded to accommodate those of us who did not finish in 2013 and I don't think there will be as many runners in 2015. However, I think that has yet to be decided. I hope with my 9 min and advanced age that I get in.

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I only have a 30+ second qualifying time. If I don't get in on that time, there are other ways for me to get in. One way or an other I hope to be there...

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I have a BQ minus 5:59. If I understand correctly that means I can register on Friday (12th) or Saturday (13th). I'll be out of town on Friday and won't have access to a computer. Am I correct that I can wait and register on Saturday without risking missing out on my spot?

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
You can certainly wait to register as I do not believe it is first come, first served - I really believe they look at the time differentials. And there is the time change thing as well. I can register on Friday too (9:50) and I'm 3 hrs ahead of you - so when I'm registering at 10 am, it is 7 am for you. Maye you need to get up early Actually can someone else register you?nkrichards wrote:I have a BQ minus 5:59. If I understand correctly that means I can register on Friday (12th) or Saturday (13th). Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I can register from the 15th to the 17th on a non-first come first serve basis. I will still probably try to register at 10 am eastern on the 15th, which is the earliest that I could. My fingers will be crossed!!

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I got to thinking about charity running if I do not get into the field on my time. Does anyone know the process for getting hooked up with a charity? Looking for some insight...you know...just in case.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I'd check the BAA website, but if not I know Dana Farber is one of the big ones, and I bet you can just google that with Boston Marathon.

Trevor ran for Brigham and Women's hospital last April. I'll ask him how he did it, but I think he just contacted several of the BAA charities. If I recall there was a link on the marathon website.

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I have a BQ from this year's Boston with 8+ min to spare, but I'm doing Disney (Dopey) in Jan & hope to do NYC in the fall, so I don't think it wise to race Boston next year. However, I have volunteered to be an Achilles International guide. Just waiting for a willing disabled athlete.

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
I am stunned it filled in the two week window and has a cut off time of 1:02. I figured it'd make it to Chicago and that registration for this past one was more of an anomaly with everyone wanting to get in because of the bombing. Wow.

Even though I missed the cutoff by 37 secs, I am going to find a way there. The charity apps are already being submitted.

Re: Boston Marathon 2015
Hope you get in. A bit of advice. Follow up a few times. Trevor had to contact Brigham and Womens several times before they finally said yes. Have a compelling story to tell also if you have one.Nick Morris wrote:Even though I missed the cutoff by 37 secs, I am going to find a way there. The charity apps are already being submitted.
