Sun - today I finally had some fun. 20 min walk (1.5 miles - wow) and jogged a couple of hundred yards to see what hurt - rt knee, rt hammy - but no big deal
also rode 8 miles and went to the driving range for an hour in prep of a golf tournament in 10 days in AZ.

Hanson coach says I can't run for 2 weeks. Will damn near kill me.

He is probably right Michael. I usually take a week off, but I didn't run the entire distance Wink and I didn't race (and I walked for what seemed like many miles on Monday night). I'm betting you can swim or bike or use an elliptical to stop from going stir crazy.

M- Boston Marathon- 3:16:04 (No real issues with the nagging hamstring or right Achilles)
Tu-Su- felt fine enough to run Friday, but promised myself complete rest from running for at least 2 full weeks to heal completely then slowly get back to form for another fall marathon training cycle.

Do you think the weights contribute to the shin issue as lifting puts stress on the legs. Even biking does for that matter.

Back to it, for... well, whatever it is I end up doing. Suspect

Tue: 4 miles walking
Wed: 4.1 miles barefoot, including one mile fast (for me, at least)
Thu: 6.3 miles low HR
Fri: 8.3 miles hills
Sat: Rest
Sun: 10.3 miles with solid if unspectacular MAF test
Mon: 18.2 miles on the trail, with 2 more miles walking with Alita and Alec on a nice evening

Week: 53.1 miles

Going to be careful about intensity in the coming week. My escapades this week left me sore and surly.

I'm 7 weeks post knee surgery and now following basically an every other day running plan with elliptical on (most of) the days I don't run. Then maybe one day off so 2-3 runs and 3-4 elliptical workouts a week. Rinse and repeat each week for April and then we'll see how back to back running starts working in May. At least one double digit mileage run each weekend the past 3 weeks just to start to head towards some kind of mileage. Next stop, Erie Marathon in September and then Chicago in October. So far, so good.

My fastest marathon performance before Sunday was 3:12:53 at Steamtown in Oct 2009. I'm confident that I've still got a few more PRs to throw down before Old Man Time finally catches up.

It's really great to see so many of you guys 'n gals back on the roads. Welcome back Matt, Paula Sue and Natalie. [btw Natalie, your old user name was Natalie ... go figure.]

Nicely done Jerry on scoring the only goal in a football match - winning the game for your side. They're mad about football over here. I'm sitting right in the thick of things in Hammersmith surrounded by Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.
