I think the plan is going to be to hang with the 3:10 pace group for the first 3-4 miles, which should be about 7:15 miles, and then pick it up a bit to 7:05 miles through mile 20. At that point, it's going to be gut check time to see what's left in the tank. The best case scenario is I've got gas in the tank and I can hammer home to a 3:05, middle ground, I hang on for dear life and get in somewhere under 3:08, worst case I fade a bit but still hang on and get in under 3:10. Anything outside of those 3 scenarios is an abject failure!

I like it.

Jim, good luck on Sunday. Your pacing strategy looks good and your training has been excellent. I assume I'll see you Friday at dinner or Sunday.

Nick, Alex, Jon, Jim, John, Michele, thanks! The hay is in the barn, just a few shakeout miles and the drive to Chicago left. Here's hoping the weather forecast continues to round into shape and everybody has a great race.

This is gonna be a helluva ride!

Keep your head up Jim. I know that it is a pretty disappointing feeling, as I went through that last year. Especially after having such a great training cycle. But it is what you do next that will make you a better runner. Reflect on everything and move on knowing a little more. The next training cycle will be better for it and things will come together. I am sure of it!!

No worries, Jim - you saw me have to bail at St. Louis and I was a pacer. Sometimes it just isn't in the cards. Recover, regroup and next.....
