Theo to the Cubs!
Woohoo! We have a real GM with a real philosophy on how to run a baseball team!

Ah, bummer. I was hoping he would stay. He'll be good for the Cubs.

You guys will be fine, Cherington will continue building the same way Theo has. Like I said, more than anything, I'm excited to have a continuity in philosophy more than anything else. The Jim Hendry philosophy of "What worked for last year's World Series winner?" was no way to build an effective and successful organization.

Its been awhile since I could write this: My franchise did something right!
Although, the compensatio to the Red Sox isn't finalized yet. Brett Jackson's name has been floated, which if true, would piss me off beyond belief.

Doubt it. There's a $3.5 million buyout on Theo's deal with Boston and if it's anything more than that, I'd be shocked.
I am so damn excited about this. Rickett's knows what the hell he's doing. Apparently you don't get that rich by accident!

I like it. If you want to deal with the Goat, go get the guy that handled the Bambino!

My fear for Boston is that Cherington will be just a puppet for Lucchino. Some of the horrible free agent signings Theo did not want and he at least tried to stand up to Lucky.

Funny - I had to look up what that meant. Sorry, just a little good-natured poke. I hope it works out well for them - just not too well...

Oh, the evil empire of the NL is going down hard now! We have more money and now an organizational plan! You guys are screwed (eventually)! Especially when Pujols leaves this off season (OK, that's wishful thinking, but whatever).

It seems I've heard this all before. Yet, the evil empire continues to dominate .

Re: Theo to the Cubs!
I can see a Pujols or Prince Fielder signing in the near future...
That would suck if the Cubs would have to give up Jackson. That kid has some talent...

If this Epstien brings a World Series to Chicago after ending Boston's drought, he will be a legend.

Look, I am skeptical I wiill ever witness a Cubs World Series. But, I can promise you that if it ever happens, the celebration will be unlike anything this world has ever seen.
Re: Theo to the Cubs!
Lets remember that Theo orchestrated the wonderful contracts of J.D. Drew, Dice K, and John Lackey, among others, so don't go planning that Cubs World Series parade just yet. He was also against trading for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell, but luckily went on "vacation" when that deal was made. He gets a lot of credit, but I'm not sure all of it is actually deserved.

It won't be any more than Boston's. The Cubs are not as life and death as a whole like it was for the Sox. It's a little more laid back there. Sure there may be plenty who treat it as life and death there but here it's a religion.
