Garmin: Multiple runs without downloading between runs?
I know just enough about my Garmin 305 so that I can run and then download my distance/pace/HR after each run. I always download after each run. But I'll be running out of town for a week and won't be able to download the data in-between runs. I'm certain that there is a way to tell my Garmin that I'm starting a new run. But I'm stumped. When I've tried in the past, the Garmin just appends the new run to my previous run if I don't download after a run.
Can one of you Garmin Gurus talk me through the process? I'll be running through my old 'hood' in WI (where I was born and lived until I was 10), then at Niagara Falls. I'd like both of those runs and their associated maps/data in my log..but can't drag my computer along.
thanks in advance for answering this dumb question..but after all, many of you are in taper, so you are looking for things to do to occupy your mind.
btw...in honor of all of you who are tapering, I watched 'Spirit of the Marathon' this morning as I did my elliptical workout.

Any change you forgot to reset after each run? Reset is to tell Garmin you are done this run. Otherwise, you continue the run after 24 or whatever hours break.

I'm sure that's the problem, Jerry...but I don't know how to reset.

You kidding me. I thought you have been a serious runner for a long time now.
The reset button is the lap button. You press start button to stop the workout. Press the lap/reset button and hold it for 3 seconds. The screen should show: Reset, 3, 2, 1. Then whatever data fields on the screen goes to blank, except the Time of the Day.
You are ready to press start for another run if you want at this point.

Thanks Jerry! I've been using my Garmin for over 2 years, but always just download after each run....so it's never mattered. I never knew about holding the lap button. Yes, I should be ashamed!
Thanks!

That's interesting. I always thought I have to reset in order to download.

Re: Garmin: Multiple runs without downloading between runs?
I am laughing right now!
I don't download data to a computer, I just type what I want in my log (I have an old Garmin that doesn't work with macs) and so of course, I always reset! Silly Kathy!

Re: Garmin: Multiple runs without downloading between runs?
Make sure that if you ever go from running to cycling or vice versa, you reset before you change the sport-mode on the Garmin, too. Otherwise, it reads it as a multi-sport (block) workout and will upload it as such.
You don't need to reset before uploading.
If the Garmin is on "smart recording" mode, you should be able to get at least 10 or so hours of running on it before you need to charge it, too.
