Thanks everyone!
With everything that's been going on, I'm pretty pleased with how the day went, and yes, I do feel like I redeemed myself after a disappointing time in Boston earlier this year.
Today I had a new experience, which was intense painful calf cramping for the last 8 miles. I may not have hit my A goal of 3:25 anyway, but it definitely cost me a PR, which I missed by 12 seconds. But, hey, what can you do? I got the BQ, and hopefully I'll gain entry for 2013. As you know, Kenny had a fantastic PR, so our little group had a nice day in Philly!
I'll get a full report up tomorrow.
Thanks as always for the great support and all the good wishes.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the men's winner Tuko Folisho, is a member of our club, The Westchester Track Club. I'm so happy for him and for our coach Mike Barnow.

First run since Philly. 2.5 easy miles, not a thing of beauty, but it's done. Still pretty sore.
Also, I had my first of three weekly injections of Euflexxa on Tuesday. I hope it works, because the knee seems to have taken a particular beating.
I achieved the goal of this blog last Sunday, which was to achieve redemption after Boston, but I'll keep the blog going for now until I come with a a reason for a new one.

Thanks Michael!

Michele, she was accepted SUNY Delhi, a very small state college in the middle of the state, about a 2 1/2 hour drive from where we live. She made things easier for herself when her safety school became her first choice. This was because it turned out that Delhi has best program of the few SUNY schools that offer a Bachelors in Restaurant and Food Service Management (actually it was the only school that had that exact major), which at least at the outset, is the direction she wants to pursue. We're waiting to hear from a few other schools, and if she gets other acceptances, we'll most likely visit those schools just so she knows her options. For now though, the hard part is over and the pressure is off!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Drexel, since the Philly Marathon runs past it. The students hanging outside the frat houses and off campus housing are always out in support of the runners.

Where is Delhi? You know I'm actually a NY state resident since I own two properties out west. I tried to get my daughter to look at Binghamton, but she laughed at me. She did; however, apply to RIT.

RIT...My alma mater!!!!
Delhi is kind of smack in the middle of the state, about 3 hours northwest of NYC

Congrats again on another BQ Seth!

...and, happy first day of Hanukkah! It just so happens that my regular Bible reading has me going through the book of Ezra at this time. It's interesting to be reading about the rebuilding of the temple while Jews are celebrating the Maccabees gaining control over that temple once again.

Happy Hanukah, Seth!

And sorry that my daughter will be withdrawing her RIT application in favor of BU (Boston University).

Thanks Dave...and Merry Christmas to you!
The true story of Hanukkah, which most people either don't know or gloss over, bears little resemblance to what we tell our kids. The Maccabees were a pretty rough bunch...early zealots really, viciously fighting against the rise of Hellenism among their fellow Jews....but they were obviously pretty good fighters, and were able to reclaim the temple.

Thanks Michele, and happy holidays to you! I'm sure you're daughter will love BU. Boston sure beat the heck out of Rochester as far as places I'd want to live.
