I registered for the Philadelphia Marathon this week, so this is week 5 of training for Philly on Nov. 20th

Tuesday: 6.5 miles a GA pace (8:31/mile), with one mile close to MP
Wednesday: 8.8 miles 3.5 easy/3.5 progression from MP down to between HMP and 10k pace/cool down
Thursday: 5 miles easy (9:00/mile)
Saturday: 14 hilly miles in total. 9 miles easy, 4 miles progressively faster with miles 12 and 13 at around MP, one mile cool down
Sunday: 5 miles recovery

Total: 39.3 miles

Week 12 of 26 for Memphis St. Jude

Major step back week. After four consecutive weeks of running without missing a day I decided to take some time off. Relax and enjoy the gains I have made over the last 11 weeks. Pushed my mileage up to 72 last week. Fairly healthy and running better and better.

Step back week saw me eat a lot of junk food. Pizza and a trip to Baskin Robbins for a triple scoop hot fudge sundae. Must to my pregnant wife's dislike. I texted her while she was at work to inform her I was pigging out!

W: 8 lunchtime no evening run due to fall tweaking my left knee

Th: 6 lunchtime, 2 were a weak tempo, 100 heat index

F: 8 lunchtime

Sa: 4 AM in hilly terrain, 12 evening

Su: 9 late afternoon 95 heat index

Wild. But you don't "need" to run 120 per week to train for 50.

It's posts like that that hit me with the reality that I might just not be meant to run a 50 miler right now.

Moving from summer racing to fall training (and racing):



M - 12.5 Easy run in beautiful weather in NY 62F and 80% humidity; however, it is amazing what cool temps will do

T - 5.1 Recovery run

W - 3.2 miles with 1 min pickups @ 7 min pace, 26 miles cycling

Th - 10 miles once again in beautiful weather, hilly course but great run

F - 5 mile Progression run (9 min down to 7 :30) before driving to Cleveland and back

S - 5 mile Recovery run before driving to Cincinnati

S - Day off, drive home to Atlanta



Totals: 40.8 miles Running; 26 miles Cycling

Man, I need to run more. This San Diego to Twin Cities round-trip weekly commute is not helping my running at the moment. Gotta start running doubles when I have time. Argh.

Mon: 6 easy + strides

Tue: 10 w/ 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 1 min fast fartlek w/ equal recoveries

Wed: 12 easy/moderate

Thur: 6 easy very late PM

Fri: 8 easy very early AM + strides

Sat: 13 w/ fast finish (last 200m @ 5:00 pace!, ha)

Sun: 2 hr trail run (~15 miles)

Week: Not enough again...surprise surprise.
