Revels of Peach Keane (Redux Part III)
This "new/old" blog will take me through my summer race schedule and on to NY in the fall. Not much to report yet, and I don't expect anyone to read this boringness, but it keeps me going as do you all.
My summer/fall race schedule:
July 10th Boilermaker 15K, Utica, NY
July 17th Presque Isle Half Marathon, Erie, PA
September 11th Singleton 10 Miler, Atlanta
October 16th Grand Rapids Half Marathon, Grand Rapids, MI
November 6th NY Marathon, NY, NY
I hope to be able to race either the Boilermaker and/or Presque Isle but it will depend on weather (heat; humidity) and how my right leg feels. I strained the glute/hammie again the other day (actually I think it was as a result of old shoes), but it is feeling better and I did nail my 400s on the track this morning. The weather this week has cooperated in the morning with temps only in the high 60s and lower humidity - yeah! We are expecting thunder showers this evening that are supposed to be sever, but hopefully not so severe that they knock out my satellite and we can't watch the Bruins clinch. We're leaving for NY state on Saturday mid-day (after the Peachtree course run- so John I'll report in on the exact miles for the hills) and I'm looking forward to hilly runs on back country roads with Amish buggies and cows as running buddies.
Thanks for setting this up.

Yay! First! Michele, I'm excited to meet you in NY. As it turns out, we are bringing my daughter with us -- I figure for what we're paying for a suite at the Trump Soho, there will be plenty of room for her to sleep on the brand new sofa (it's a new hotel). Whatever we save by sharing a room between the three of us, I'm sure she'll find a way to spend...

I wouldn't be able to handle them one week apart. You look young and strong than ever, Michele.

How old is your daughter? I'm bringing mine as well - she'll be a senior in high school (and is 18), so she is looking forward to traipsing around Times Square (NOT).

Yes, but only one will be a race - the other simply a solid run. Presque isle is flat as flat comes.

I hope the summer weather cooperates for your training Michele. We all know that you are talented and looking forward to seeing what you can do. It sounds like you have some good races coming up. Good luck!
Re: Revels of Peach Keane (Redux Part III)
Michele look forward to following this, you are running some race I would like to do in the future!
Take care of that leg, I just got back to running after a good case of piriformis syndrome. Not fun

Enjoy your time in NY this weekend. You must be fairly acclimated to the heat by now aren't you. Isn't 60's feeling chilly for you?

Got the Memo
Got the memo.
I assume I have missed you until Singleton? I heard the Singleton Course may change, any rumors?

No kidding - mine is that "Dead Butt Syndrome" of which I spoke over at HH's. I suffer from it on and off, but I just wish it would go away. The solution for me is truly strengthening rather than rest - so lots of single leg squats, dead lifts, glute bridges, etc.

Actually, it's NY state (way west near Jamestown) and until August 20th! Yes about the 60s, it was 65F this morning and I wore long sleeves!

Stephen - I have heard rumors that it might possibly take place down by the river in Roswell off Azalea Drive and Riverside Dr. That is the site of the Possum Trot and the other Nature Center Chattahoochee 10K in February. Pretty flat for the most part, but they could add in some killer hills if they wanted to. I guess we will see.

Well I hope I don't have to deal with this on on and off bases, not fun at all. At first I had to rest because I couldn't even walk. The key now has been a lot of stretching and like you said squats, dead lifts, reverse bridge and leg press. I'm also doing some other running drills, I didn't know becoming a masters runner was going to take so much more work.
I know it is a ways off but did you say you are running Boston this coming year? I sure hope so because Lisa and I really want to meet you in person. Boston might be to far away!

I hear you on hating those suckers! Since I started doing them they sure have made a difference. Whenever I do them in the gym I feel like I doing some 80's aerobic move. haha

Looking forward to seeing you and Judy Denver (and anyone else that shows up) at Grand Rapids. Todd will gripe when I tell him we're going...but he'll do it. Maybe catch you before that somewhere...when do you come back to Cleveland?

I won't be back until after Shannon graduates this coming May - so fall of 2012. John is looking at property now in the western suburbs - Bay Village. Rocky River since his company is in Westlake. I'd love to live downtown or Ohio City, but since I'll be by myself a lot it probably isn't prudent to live somewhere where you can't go out after dark alone even if it is 6pm.

Ha - more like a porno flick
Re: Revels of Peach Keane (Redux Part III)
Bay Village and Rocky River are two excellent choices...and you know those areas are runner friendly. Which club were you associated with when you last lived in Cleveland?Michele "1L" Keane wrote:I won't be back until after Shannon graduates this coming May - so fall of 2012. Michele, good luck with all your training and races this summer and I look forward to meeting you in NYC.
Re: Revels of Peach Keane (Redux Part III)
You are never boring!
Interesting about not resting the Dead Butt. I am finding the same thing. Rest does NOT help. I am not liking the constant need to stretch and strengthen, but I guess that is getting older.
