Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
Let's see.
Marathon: 74.2%
Half Marathon 72.3% Ugly, gotta improve that one
10K 73.7% on no taper, 2 days after a 20 miler
5k 76.8% in an unofficial track workout 10 days before the marathon above
If you run 90 miles per week and throw in some speedwork, your 5k and 10k times will rock!!!

Hey now, none of this sandbagging bull$h!t here
I think you have plenty of local class - not to mention you are a world-renown Nike shoe tester!Mark B wrote:At this point, Mike, I'll happily benefit from a little grade inflation.

BEST: 5k 67.02 Half 66.67 Full 67.52
Weird. I was proudest of my half time but looking at the % it's not my best performance. The masters champ plaque I got must have poofed up my ego more than running back of the pack at Boston!
WORST: 10K, 58.12 I only ran one my first year of running so not to bad.

Is local class seems so well local. How local like one zip code or county. Lol
It is better to have local class than no class!!!
Hey I'll take what I can get. I got 2nd place in my age group in a marathon and 3rd place another time (Sioux City, IA and Pensacola, FL, respectively). My strategy is to stick with it until I'm in my 80s.

My top 5 are all 5k's... 91.78, 91.26, 90.95, 90.52, 90.49
Next 5 are 10K 90.45, 5K 90.14, 20K 89.83, 5K 89.75 & 5K 89.68
All of these were run in the last 3 years. Best HM is only a 89.45, best marathon is a 75.72. Ha!...
What a difference 10 years makes...I could barely run an 80 in a race ten years ago. These days my tempo's are 84-85% ! Un-freakin-believable...
Now this is freakin' awesome, Dave.
Now, I see that Dave-O and Matt W gave nubmers - I thought you had to be over 33 for the chart to be relevant?
Any way:
5K 77%
10K 76%
15K 75.6%
Half 74%
Mara 72.7%

Our times are just compared to the world record of each event and thus not adjusted by age at all. So basically, I'm 82% the runner of Bekele and Haile.

I had the sting of a bad recent marathon eased by receiving a 2nd place AG medal in the mail a week later. I never dreamed of AG placing when I started running 3 years ago...Julie wrote:John Kilpatrick wrote:Kenny B. wrote:John Kilpatrick wrote:5K (last year) = 64.38

It does look that way. I guess that just goes to show how difficult the marathon really is.

Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
Just checked mine:
5K - 59.33
10K - 58.50
Half - 60.16
Full - 58.37
I'll take it - and should be setting new PRs at all distances this year, plus being a year older now.

Re: Best 3 distance WAVA Age Grade
Interesting topic. Since I just started running a couple of years ago, my % keep improving (maybe because I'm getting older - lol) and the best tend to be the most recent regardless of distance. My best three, all in 2011 are:
10k = 77.12%
20k = 75.66%
26.2 = 75.13%
10k = 77.12%
20k = 75.66%
26.2 = 75.13%
