2014 XC Club Nationals

Post  Michele "1L" Keane on Sun Dec 14, 2014 5:07 pm

Overall, 2014 has been a good year for me and it finished on a high note with an excellent run (for me) at yesterday's XC Club Nationals.  I ran as a member of the Greater Philadelphia Track Club Masters 50+ team (long story) and ended up as their number one scorer.  I ran one minute faster than the last time I ran this race (different course, but I think this one was a bit tougher with a long hill from 2.5-3.1 miles) which was in Seattle in 2011.  In that race, I even died in the last mile and could barely hang on.  Not yesterday and while my pace dropped in the mile with the half mile long hill, my effort remained the same and my last 0.73 miles was equivalent to a 6:40 pace.  I was 98th out of 255 overall, 22nd out of 62 in the 50-54 AG, and our GPTC 50+ team placed 3rd!

These XC races are a blast and if you ever get the chance, you should all try one.

If any of you are interested, Michael Scott took photos (he is part of the USATF) of all the races and viewing them is like viewing the race.  Quite spectacular in a lot of ways.
