Run a PR, guaranteed!
This thing looks really cool. This is the machine I like the most at the health club when injured but I like the idea of using one on the road on a regular basis rather than a health club. I wonder how these would work on the streets as sidewalks and curbs would not go well with it.

Re: Run a PR, guaranteed!
I have been looking at getting an Elliptigo 8c for my rehabbing.
Because of all of my pelvic fractures, it will make the transition to walking and eventually running a very gradual one.
I have been reading about the Elliptigo and how people use it to rehab.
They are not cheap. I met one of the designers at that company last fall in Encinitas.
This guy and his wife are best friends with one of my daughters and her husband.
He has been with the company from the beginning - he wanted me to come out and meet the founder and do a test ride at the corporate headquarters. I did not have time when we were there.
I am considering doing a crowd sourced funding project via Kickstarter to buy one.
I contacted Elliptigo - told my story along with photos and asked permission to use clips from their videos in my project video.
They responded quickly - wished me well and gave me a site to download any video clips I want.
I offered to let them proof my Kickstarter video before I upload it - they said they would be glad to do that for me.
They did not offer me a discount!
I just think this gear would be a huge help to me.
We will see.

They are in Encinitas? Wow, I didn't know that. My hubby goes to Carlsbad all the time (and he lived in Encinitas) for 3 yrs. I need to go with him the next time. I think they are cool and would love to have one to use in the metroparks.

Well, my daughter and their friends live in Encinitas - the company is nearby, not sure if their address is actually Encinitas - but close.

The thing is huge. I used to see a few people using them around the Bay in San Diego and I almost had to jump off the biking path to give them enough space to go by. But if it works then who cares what it looks like I suppose. And I just read how using an elliptical really strengthens your glutes - an often overlooked muscle group for runners I believe.

Well if Meb can win Boston at 39 and he uses one, then maybe there is something to it.

The same thing can basically be accomplished if you already own a regular road bike. Just spend the time out of the saddle with your hands on the top bars so you're verticle and not leaned over. Then just make sure you're pulling up with one foot while pushing down with the other. I was doing a lot of this during the later stages of my rehab last summer.

Great advice. I really should not spend money I am not positive I will be getting.
I have a nice Fuji that will work fine.

I used a Groupon to rent one for 4 hours in Chicago - it was great! great workout and a fun way to spend an afternoon on the lakefront path (as long as you can avoid North Ave. and the tourists).

I saw someone using one at Waterfall Glen this past Saturday. I must say it looked like a good workout, especially on Big Bertha.
