Re: Clawing My Way Back
Wow, you're still slugging away Michael. It is interesting how life gets in the way of our plans, sometimes more frequently than others. Sounds to me like your biggest issue is the fatigue you talk about. I hope you can get that resolved.
Thought that your comments about your potential costume was humorous. Fortunately, my daughter does not insist that I have a costume when she goes out.

Metalheads
Ha ha....Yeah, my wife made fun of metalheads in high school. I was one, with short hair. She listened to British Tech Pop and Top 40. Sigh...LOL
Heat For The Eleventh Month
I just did not want to run yesterday. I bagged it. It was the wife's birthday and thought, let us go out and roll. We did. We ate at a wings place. Today's run was hot. It was humid. It was 80 the whole way. The first mile was at a 7:54 pace and from the 4.20 mark on, 7:30 pace and from 1.5 miles out, 7:24 pace. I ended up with another 53:30, but this time my soleus was bothering me. If I had not been running in my compression socks, no way I finish. I will wear my recovery socks tonight and tomorrow. Oh, the high temperature tomorrow...64. I have 19 miles this week.
Back In The Hurt Saddle?
The soleus is bothering me today. Just out of the blue ( well yesterday's run) it started bothering me. Sigh. Why? LOL Well, I am wearing recovering socks all day today and will run around 4:40 pm. I should be ok, but just in case, I will run at a 7:54 pace to get the mileage in. Then we will see what happens. I swear this year has been weird.
Switching In Time
I switched the orthotics. I knew this run would be slower than normal. I also know that tomorrow's and Saturday's run will be at an 8 minute pace. I ran a 40 minute 5 miler and hope to do one Friday morning. Soleus was bothering me, but did not stop me. Oh well, looks like we are backing off a couple of days. I have 25 miles this week. Compression socks tonight and tomorrow are the name of game.
Another Easy Run
Yep. I did not want to push the run today either. 56 minute 7 miler today at 5 pm. I will go easy on Saturday and Sunday, then check on Monday.
Yep
Easy run. I had some twinging around the 4 mile mark, but ok. I talked to the DC. I am on 8 minute pace runs for Saturday-Wednesday. Sigh. Oh well, they will get done. One strange thing. We went to go eat at Texas Roadhouse and I was told to hurry up after the run. I did not stretch all that well and I have a small charley horse in my calf. I can massage it out, but I hate getting old. I ran 7 miles today at 56 minutes. I have 32 miles this week.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Soleus problems, bad.
Twinging, bad.
Getting older... GREAT!! Well, considering the alternatives...
This is probably a dumb question... but with all the heat and humidity you get there in hell's half acre, do you take any supplemental electrolytes like Endurolytes or S-Caps? If you aren't, or aren't getting quite enough, there's a chance that it might have an impact on some of these muscle problems.

Humid But Managable
Again, easy run. This one was late, due to the fact that we went and watched Puss In Boots ( it was ok) and went to the mall, and now are watching LSU/Alabama ( Wife is an LSU alum '92, I do not have a dog in the fight //I am a North Carolina Wesleyan College alum NCAA Division III alum '92...LOL). My run was ok. 8 minute pace all the way through for 56 minutes with a mile cooldown. Gives me 40 miles for the week.
Dadgum
Yep, dadgum. It was humid. It was hot. I realize that Novembers are transition months in meteorology. What I mean by that is that, it will be up and down the whole month as the seasons are transitioning from hot to cold. That still does not make it any easier. It was a 7:54 pace from mile three onward, but I hit 56 minutes anyway. That gave me 7 miles. I will run 5 miles at lunch today for we have a very important delegation coming in for our school. I wanted to be ready and calm for them ( they are touring our library and interviewing me...sigh). The 5 miler will be at 39:30 and then hit the showers. I have 7 miles this week. Oh and one more thing. I think I have a hernia. Sigh. More problems. I have had two operations and this, if it is one, will make three. Go me...Sigh.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Hernia, eh? Well, at least you know pretty much what to expect. Maybe you should get the surgeon to install a zipper.
As far as today, I didn't think it was all that bad at 70 degrees. There was a breeze and it wasn't 80 degrees. Anything in the 60's or lower is fine by me.
I just hope it's lower than the 60's for Sunday's race downtown. Any insight or 'if, then' situations where the cooler temperatures later this week might carryover to Sunday?
Keep holding it together.

I thought about it. Not sure yet.

Yeah, it was brutal for me yesterday. 80 and upstairs.

Nope. The southeasterly flow comes back. I think the last half of November will be cool.
Keep holding it together.
I will try Oz, I will try.
You Gotta Be Kidding Me
Humid. Check. Hot. Check. Stifling. Check. This was a crap run. Check. I took yesterday off due to so many things going on. Today, I thought 7 miles, sure. I was sweating before the run. Yep, it was a five miler. At least the last two.five miles were 7:30 pace and below. The last mile was 7:24. The first mile was 8 minutes and the last four were 30:10, but I was worn out. I mean worn out. Get this. Tomorrow, it will be amazing. Today, sucks. I have 12 miles this week.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Today is wonderful, yesterday was CRAP and Sunday is going to be back to close to crap! I love racing in 60+ temps with high humidity...

Transition Phase
Yeah, until we get into a settled pattern, it will be like this for awhile. I know. Yesterday was just horrible. I could not breathe. Literally, could not breathe. Today, should be better.

La Nina means NO settled pattern unless you mean up/down/up/down as the pattern? It is going to be like this until we move into a La Nada (wasn't that what you called it?) or El Nino pattern.
They just sent out a Warm Weather Training Tips for Sunday email.....

Ughhg. Good luck.
Running To The Marathon
About to go do my cooldown, but quickly, first mile 7:54 and 15:48 after two and then 7:30 and 7:24 pace to end the 7 miles at 53:13 which is not too shabby. Now, cool down for 2 miles at 16 minutes to give me 9 on the day and 22 for the week.

These Are The Days Of Our Lives
I did not expect this. I thought it was going to be an easy one. The first mile, run at 7:50, sure said it would. Well, from one mile to 3.19, it was a 7:30 pace and from then on to 7 miles, 7:24 pace to give me a 52:24. I feel good. No real problems. Sorta energized. Had an 8 minute mile cool down to give me 30 miles for the week. Overall, ok. My stamina is still being worked on. I was not overly comfortable, but I will get there.

Trying Mark, trying. This has to be one of the most trying years I have had. Sigh.
