Nice job in your race, Michele.
And nice job with the training, Jerry!

Week 5 of 18 for the Chicago marathon. I lost my Garmin and moved the interval and MP work to the TM (it was pretty humid out anyway) but did the warm up and cool downs outside. I cannot pace well without the Garmin. Luckily I found it on Friday. I'm managing to keep up with all the scheduled runs but am hoping the minimal number of rest days doesn't hurt me.

M - 2.2mi easy peasy
T - 7mi ride to/from gym + weights; brutally hot 3hr hill ride in which I got bit by a dog
W - 2.2mi easy peasy w/ Aileen
Th - 7mi ride to/from gym + weights; less hot 2hr race ride in which I didn't get bit by a dog
F - off
S - 3.7mi w/ Aileen, played around for a minute on the trail by dropping the hammer, felt SO good to open up
S - 45mi group ride in the foothills, fast and furious

Week - 8.1mi run, 144mi bike

The pendulum's starting to swing towards running, anyway

Last decent week before tapering now. Decent amount of mileage but I focused mostly on trying to run as much vertical as possible. And I certainly did that logging over 14,000’ of up and 14,000’ of down this week. By far my most ever in a training week.

Mon: 7 w/ 1,600’ of vert

Tue: 10 w/ 1,700’

Wed: 6 easy w/ 400’

Thur: 10 w/ 1,900’

Fri: 7 w/ 1,000’ (first time running parts of Wildwood in Forest Park – great trails)

Sat: 23 w/ 4,900’ around part of Mt. Hood (first time to Mt. Hood – this one will be burned in to my memory)

Sun: 6 w/ 2,400’ (first three miles straight up Mt. Hamilton in the Columbia River Gorge – tough ‘running’)

was in Portland Sun night and Monday.  Beautiful and sunny.  Was able to see Mt Hood, but didn't get out there.  Was able to run Mon morning along the Columbia River near the airport for a few miles.  My kind of day - 50's in the morning, 80s in the afternoon.

Golf TWICE in ONE WEEK. You're not THAT old. I guess you redeem yourself with the partying.

Mon 5.7, Tue 4.4, Wed 6.3, Thu weights, Fri 6.2, Sat weights, Sun 9.7 for a total of 32.3

Apart from the air-conditioned treadmill, the MINIMUM temperature was 101. With the next significant race three months away, I wonder why I bother. Addicted, I suppose.

Hey, having a blog now means I can actually reconstruct last week:

Monday - did I run?  Hmm.  Thought I would have but no description of it.
Tuesday - 7 on mill easy (6 slow, 1 MP)
Wednesday - 7 on mill easy (6 slow, 1 MP)
Thursday - 7 on mill easy (6 slow, 1 MP)
Friday - 8 in pouring rain.  GA progression from super slow to MP+30.
Saturday - 18.  Kind of a bonk in bad heat and humidity
Sunday - 12 on mill slow

That's 59 if I really didn't run any on Monday.  Higher than I would have guessed!
