Lots of cycling... May is bike month, and the club I ride with is in a region-wide contest... So I pledged 500mi for the 18 days I'll actually have a bike this month. So far, so good.

M - off
T - 47.6mi w/ just under 3k' climbing
W - 37.7mi flat
Th - 2 years with Aileen; off; also, we found an apartment for next year!
F - 27.7mi relatively flat
S - 77mi also relatively flat
S - 75.7mi also relatively flat, but I won both sprints

Week - 265.8mi, just under 15hr

Amazed. Orthopaedic surgeon said it was OK to carry on running with (probable) patellar tendinitis, but try to cut back on either distance or speed. So the training may not be very exciting, but the knee seems to be very slowly improving.

Mon: 7.6 at MP+45s/mi
Tue: nil
Wed: 5 at MP+1m/mi including 2x80ft half-mile climbs.
Thu: 8 at MP+50s/mi
Fri: nil
Sat: 7.7 at MP+50s/mi
Sun: 7.1 at MP+30s/mi including 2x80ft half-mile climbs.

Total: 35.4

I wonder if I should cut back more on the speed for normal runs, and then see if I can do a little speedwork without undue pain.

Another good week...good in that I kept with the program and didn't skip a run:

Mon: 4.1 mi
Tues: 0
Wed: 5.1 mi
Thurs: 0
Fri: 4.1 mi
Sat: 6.1 mi
Sun: Biked...forgot to put on Charmin Garmin so have no idea how far. It felt good as an alternate exercise and hope to keep adding it in. However, I don't plan to make it part of the plan. Really want to just keep the emphasis on running.

I've been there again and again. If we really want to try and do anything as a runner, we have to walk away from soccer. I haven't pulled that off but keep paying the price for not doing it.

Oops! I forgot to post.

This was a step back week.

Tue: 4 miles walking
Wed: Rest
Thu: 4 miles barefoot with Joel (who wore shoes)
Fri: 6.3 miles hills
Sat: Rest
Sun: 6.5 miles low HR
Mon: 8.5 miles on trail, ~4,400 feet of climbing and the same amount of descent, learning how to navigate boulder fields and scree, and why I should avoid extensive bushwhacking without gaiters. What a Face

Week: 29.3 miles

Up this week: Back to higher mileage, with a 10-24 back-to-back planned for Sunday and Monday
