Anyone suggest a watch I can use for running and swimming and can you wear a HR monitor in the water? Do I stick with Garmin or go Timex? Running of course is my main sport! Thanks

The Polar RCX5 and MAYBE other recent Polar watches' HR monitors work in the water. Unfortunately, the separate GPS unit has only limited water resistance - all right for getting wet, but not to be kept on the arm for swimming - so you need to put it under a swim cap, preferably in a waterproof bag. Actually, I think you have to do that with any GPS receiver, even a FR 310XT, if you want accurate information. With a FR 910XT, I suppose you have a choice of swimming-stroke data from the inbuilt accelerometer or route data from the GPS.
