Watch for running and swimming
Anyone suggest a watch I can use for running and swimming and can you wear a HR monitor in the water? Do I stick with Garmin or go Timex? Running of course is my main sport! Thanks
Re: Watch for running and swimming
The Polar RCX5 and MAYBE other recent Polar watches' HR monitors work in the water. Unfortunately, the separate GPS unit has only limited water resistance - all right for getting wet, but not to be kept on the arm for swimming - so you need to put it under a swim cap, preferably in a waterproof bag. Actually, I think you have to do that with any GPS receiver, even a FR 310XT, if you want accurate information. With a FR 910XT, I suppose you have a choice of swimming-stroke data from the inbuilt accelerometer or route data from the GPS.Kenny B. wrote:Anyone suggest a watch I can use for running and swimming and can you wear a HR monitor in the water?
