NYC Marathon - Not Sure

NYC Marathon - Not Sure Empty NYC Marathon - Not Sure

Post  Kenny B. on Tue Jan 10, 2012 8:23 pm

I believe I get in automatically this year as I did not get picked in lotto the past 3 years. Is there a deadline to apply and should I. I am not sure I really want to run NYC as my PR race but then again I could run it as part of my Multi Marathon Quest but then where is the glory in that?

I have automatically qualified too. Never run it. Not sure whether or not to.

I am tossed. I should probably only participate in events that insure the registration fees. LOL

Are you guys kidding me?! NYC has been harder to get in for me than Boston. I'm trying for the 3rd time this year, so this year or next, "I'm in!"

Ok Ok Ill register I think I have too right especially since it should be automatic entry! But, jeez $255 with no protection seems uncivilized!

I think this is the last year for automatic qualifiers and 3 strikes you are in. So I would run it this year if I were you.

The rules have changed - especially starting for the 2013 race. However, anyone already in the 3 year-cycle, will have a chance for the 3-strikes rule. That one doesn't go away for another couple years.

ok - you guys have me seriously considering this. I think I can still get auto qualifying in future yrs, but as we all know, no guarantees in this sport. Only problem is, my normal racing mates don't qualify. Never gone to a marathon by myself. That would be interesting.

They already announced this is the last year to qualify.

I thought they were just making the qualifying times tougher to keep more lottery spots open and not eliminating that way of getting in altogether.

That is correct. My qual time goes from 3:30 > 3:14. Big drop. All ages dropped similarly, but differently.
